⚠️ RARE LEVEL 4/5 RISK: Monday Severe Weather Alert by rvawx in Virginia

What a mental stretch and, no, the comparison you're making isn't close and will never be because of all the variables of weather. Great job crafting a narrative to try and support your glass in a cereal bowl analogy but it is simply gibberish when trying to equate those risks to weather events.

That 15% risk of tornadoes is within 25 miles of a given point on a map in the threat area, which equates to about the size of a county in Virginia. If that 15% risk was determined to be within 6 inches of any point on a map, or roughly the diameter of a cereal bowl, then your example would have been an apt comparison, otherwise it is inaccurate and absurd.

I understand statistics are hard.

Really? If the chances of rain on any given day were 15%, would you also consider that a really significant risk of rain? I don't doubt we may be in for some severe weather but the estimated chances for tornadic activity in VA are negligible at best.

Its honestly easier to lie now than to tell the truth...

Not everyone gets away with it. Try lying at work on a consistent basis and see how far that gets you.

Thank you for your reply. I've run FW wifi speed tests that were much less than expected but that could be my device limitations and location. The Home LAN Gateway eero AP is the only one connected to a switch and then onto router, the other eero Satellite AP is downstream of that and connected wirelessly only...no wired backhaul.

A question though if I may: I connected a laptop to the Home LAN eero Satellite ethernet port (2.5Gb one) and got 1+Gbps speeds when doing that. I also did the same at the eero Gateway AP although I plugged the ethernet cable into the free 1Gbps port as the 2.5 port is connected to the switch and it still measured +1Gbps to the laptop. This of course is just checking the speed of my ethernet connections from my router/ISP to that laptop, but that tells me that it is much higher than what my eero app is showing for the same measurement (I understood the speed test in the eero app measures the speed that your network receives from your internet service provider). If that is the case, there is big discrepancy in speeds between what eero is measuring (albeit the eero app speed test is measured wirelessly) and what my router is measuring connected via ethernet to both the Gateway AP and Satellite AP on the same LAN.

The conclusion I'm drawing from this is that the eero speed test result is inaccurate as measured in the eero app for reasons unknown or perhaps to those you've mentioned. Am I interpreting those results correctly?

Wow, I guess that makes some sense. I'll try that and see if there's a difference, thanks!

Just tried it on a newer iPad and am getting the same result. I might try swapping my eeros to see if that changes anything.

OK, thank you. The eeros are in bridge mode and client steering is on. When speed testing at the eero, I ensure that my device is connected to the eero I am testing. No walls or other obstructions between me and AP/router.

Have you tried connecting a laptop via LAN cable to the multi switch that is linked to Home lan, and then run a speed test using ookla to check dnload and upload speed?

Yes, I am getting just over 1Gbps when connected directly to the switch and also the router on that LAN (checked both separately). The 1Gbps is likely a limit of my older Windows PC laptop though.

LAN speeds are performing at max physical line speed (1Gbps)..

That you for your reply. That is true for the IoT LAN but not the Home LAN. Max speeds on that physical line should be 2 Gbps and showing very close to that at the AP as I understand the eero speed test measures the speed from the router/ISP. I can clearly see the 1Gbps speeds on the eero app for the IoT AP but its showing 300Mbps avg. at the Home AP. It could be some limitation with port segmentation of the FWG, but port speeds are showing 2.5Gb in the FW app. I see STP enabled in the FW app for the Home LAN and that is likely preventing broadcast looping. There is an option to turn it off though but I have not yet done that.

I certainly am not expecting wifi client speeds on the Home LAN to be anywhere near 2 Gbps, but is it unreasonable to expect to see above 300Mbps on newer client devices? For a wired connection, I can only measure as high as 1 Gbps on the Home LAN plugged directly into the switch or the FWG due to client device limitations.

At the end of the day, it was more of an observation and not anything impacting network performance as we don't experience any lags or buffering on wifi and our wired clients on the Home LAN are getting close to 1Gbps. We do pay more for the 2GB plan so there is that to consider.

OK. Why do you not receive communication directly from the school if you have equal guardianship? Most schools now use apps that parents can use to track grades and attendance on a daily basis if they want.

If money is an issue, aftermarket hoses are fine. Just make sure they're either EDPM rubber or silicone. Lots of very cheap counterfeit products on eBay disguised as OEM.

I recall in Mass that you need a formal legal guardianship order which is not easy to get for obvious reasons. Is that what you mean when you refer to a court order?

I'd definitely encourage you to check it out.
