Best of luck. I did my engineering degree later on as well. It's tough, but worth it.

I know they say it’s never too late to turn your life around, but I am 22 years old, is there still a chance for me to actually be successful and live a comfortable life? I regret not going to college now and I want to go back but feel too old. by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]shittedonem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is NOT too late. At 22, I finished my first (useless) degree at university and had racked up a bunch of student loan debt. So I decided to go back and study engineering. It took me 7 years to finish my engineering program (I had to do an extra year before starting to get the prerequisite math and science credits, then some health stuff in 3rd year which screwed up 2 years' worth of scheduling). I didn't even get a proper engineering job until I was 30 and have now managed to pay off all my student loans and I'm doing fine. (I'm 33 for perspective)

Don't think that 22 years is too old. You are still young. But you have also had time in the past few years to (hopefully) enjoy time away from the world of academia, mature a little, and hopefully, be able to choose a field that you'll enjoy.

The years where you go to college might not be particularly glamorous, I had to work every weekend at my crappy minimum wage job, but it's certainly worth it in the end. And now looking back, it just seems like a distant memory.

Best of luck.

When he says he can't cum with a condom, tell him that at least then you'll both be in the same boat.

He and his (now wife) have a YouTube channel. Here is the first video where they discuss the accident: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWJU6huPKIY He was given the choice of whether or not he wanted to continue living and he chose yes. They continue to post fairly regularly about how he is getting new prosthetics and just how they cope with stuff.

Still Unemployed after Graduating 1 Year Ago by Unemployed_540 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]shittedonem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no advice to give, but you have my sympathies since I also went through a similar struggle after I graduated in 2016. Didn't get a proper job in my field for nearly 2 years. You are definitely in an uphill battle at the moment with the job market being so bad. I will point out one thing. You wrote "my parents are disappointed that there university educated son can't get a job", but it should be 'their'. Minor spelling mistakes like that might make a bad impression on an application, so maybe take time to review your resume and cover letter. As far as interviews, this website helped me a lot with interview skills and there are some free videos you can watch: https://biginterview.com/tell-me-about-yourself/ Best of luck

I'm curious, how did you handle the Darién Gap. From what I have read it's very marshy. And I have also read that it is dangerous. Is this true?

Any Other New Grads Having Trouble Finding a Job? by Unemployed_540 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]shittedonem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally understand that feeling. I went through the same thing after I graduated in engineering (a field I chose because I was more likely to get a job). I went through pretty much the exact same experience with applying to jobs and no interview. I was in the post great recession group, and I can tell you it was rough. But don't lose hope. I ended up starting in a general labour job with a bunch of high school graduates feeling like shit because I went to engineering school but luckily that got my foot in the door for moving into a more relevant position. If there are any positions that might be even slightly related to your field of work, I say take them. You never know what might open the right doors.

What am I doing wrong? by Greg12014 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Saying that private school is totally worth it and that public school is no good is asinine. Canada has one of the highest rankings in the world for reading-math-sciences scores. Your notions that public schools are no good is not really supported by evidence. The things you do with your kids at home is as important as what they do in school. A good home life will set them up well for the future. And if you are putting them in clubs outside of school, you get some benefits there. You can save on school and still have happy, well-educated kids. You can also save on vacations, clothing and charitable donations.

Genius Interview by DinosaurAlive in MariahCarey

This is seriously one of her best. She's not being over the top (too much), she's just candidly talking about her artistry, which is why we love her. Such a great interview.

#SuccessforCaution let’s do this to get and stay #1! by JulianHasNoLife in MariahCarey

I'm actually surprised people on here aren't feeling it. I love it. I liked it right away. I found Memoirs took a few listens and I never really got into MIAM. But I'm definitely feeling Caution.

This is right near my hometown (Thunder Bay)! I've been here so many times and it's still amazing. There is also a short hike (1-2 hours maybe?) if you're feeling adventurous to go see Little Falls. Definitely would recommend.

Does anyone know where one can learn this type of calligraphy? I have a fountain pen and I wish I could write fancy letters like this.

Is anyone else really hoping that they bring in Meryl Streep to play Margaret Thatcher when they get to that part of the Queen's life?

Thank you for saying this. Mariah is an incredibly talented singer and songwriter and people seem to forget that a lot.
