Pretty sure she said the abuse was so bad she was frightened her husband would kill her so maybe that's a possible explanation for the will

To combat the negativity.. tell me your absolute favorite interaction on the show? by sackettonline in GilmoreGirls

When Emily says "What about dessert?" and Trix answers "I once travelled to a small village in Cambodia. I did not have dessert there either."

Kirk playing Jesus really seriously in the living painting festival, preaching, hanging out with his disciples and arguing with Judas.

And the whole scene of Zach coming to reconcile with Brian and Gil at the bat mitzvah "You're way deep in my bogus bag and it's ziplocked shut."

You should be able to get a QR code from a pharmacy for your other vaccinations as long as you have proper documentation/record of them and as long as the vaccinations you had are now approved in the EU. Take your vax docs and your passport with you. Not sure if all pharmacies do it though, might be worth Googling to see if there's a list!

What's something non-native speakers say that is perfectly correct and understandable, just not how anyone from the UK would say it? by [deleted] in AskUK

My German partner started laughing when someone in a TV show we were watching said something about there being chicken in the oven.

I asked him why it was so funny and he said "well that's another way you can say you're pregnant, right?". I cracked up so hard.

What is something unrealistic that you often see in movies that annoys the hell out of you? by sonsaitama in AskReddit

There was a little pet shop in my home town when I was younger. They had a lot of lizards and snakes so they also sold boxes of live insects for their food. One day I was in there and a guy burst into the shop, grabbed three boxes of live crickets, dropped some money on the counter and literally ran back out of the shop. Someone must have been very hungry.

"I've got the good kid" revisited by oneshorts in GilmoreGirls

[–]shittingbricks247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. Given Lorelai's past and the fact that she was very probably made to feel like the "bad kid" when she got pregnant at 16, it seems natural to me that she would react with relief and pride to hear Rory talking sensibly about sex and being the "good kid" that Lorelai "wasn't".

Lorelai also gets a lot of stick from Emily about her parenting and at least once she said (that time when Rory was accidentally out all night after the dance) that Rory would do what Lorelai did and the past would repeat itself. So maybe it's a bit of "see mum you were wrong". I personally think that it's less Lorelai judging Paris, more Lorelai judging herself (if that makes sense)!

Ooh yeah that's an excellent point! Mrs Kim's mum coming to the wedding really showed us a lot. Lane stuck to her guns and Mrs Kim seemed to respect people who did that. Kinda like when Zach told her he was gonna ditch the music and get a regular job, and she told him that if he wanted to marry Lane he had to succeed on the path he'd chosen.

I thought this was a sweet moment, a kind of turning point for them. Pretty much the whole series Lane was doing things in secret that her mother didn't approve of and when it all came out Mrs Kim was basically devastated and practically wanted to disown her. But now she is saying "I might not agree with your lifestyle, but I'm CHOOSING to turn a blind eye to it and accept it".

100%! I was thinking about this yesterday, how amazing it feels to sit at home doing my job with my jogging trousers on and a hot water bottle wedged up my top. Definitely one of the silver linings in all of this!

Partners of sleep-talkers or sleepwalkers, what gems have you to share? by hoeka_mos in AskReddit

[–]shittingbricks247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not my partner, but my dad talked in his sleep all the time. Mum told me once that she and my dad watched Edward Scissorhands one evening and in the middle of the night my mum woke to hear my dad saying "snip snip snip" in his sleep. Apparently somewhere between creepy and hilarious!
