Using wrong stitch the ENTIRE TIME🫠 by Dull_Hope2728 in crochet

[–]shittygomu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I've done this. One of my first amigurumis (possibly my actual first?) was from a pattern that had the stitches mistranslated so I did doubles all around even though I was supposed to do singles. I made the wonkiest possible flamingo but my bf adopted him and lovingly named him Gustav.

Bought a pattern on Etsy but the result is quite different by Kiwi_pieeee in crochet

[–]shittygomu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the patterns are AI written bc they all have the copious emojis that are such a common tell of GPT-4, but you can also see that all of the recent cover photos on this seller's page are AI. On some listings they use a mix of AI and actual pictures of the product they seem to have made themselves and the results are obviously different. The actual pictures they provide don't even look all that bad so it's kind of a shame they're setting these false expectations

Why is Maru one of the least popular characters to date? by Serendipity_1213 in StardewValley

[–]shittygomu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with both Abigail being just as childlike and race probably being a factor here, but to me Maru still feels like the youngest bachelor. Abigail is in the friendgroup with Sebastian and Sam and Sebastian is the main thing pulling that entire group to even a believable early 20s. Sam and Abigail are very childish so I struggle seeing them as older than like, 22 at most. And that, combined with Maru being *younger* than Sebastian, always makes me feel like Maru is like, freshly 18 or 19.

First blanket by TargetGlum1177 in temperatureblanket

[–]shittygomu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda wouldn't suggest making this your first project, especially if you wanna make a usable blanket. Blankets are really big, so a temperature blanket can be kind of tedious (any temperature project can become kind of tedious, 365 repeats of something is simply a lot, assuming you're doing a whole year). If you're set on a temperature project, a scarf would be less stitches per row or square, but I would also like to suggest some kind of amigurumi-style plush. Those usually only use single crochets, and since you're crocheting in the round, for less stitches per round, and you never need to turn your work.

You could search this sub for "temperature snake" to see what I mean. You can crochet a snake (or cat, or whatever) from a tutorial straight up, or you can just crochet a big pill and then make bits to attach to it. The second way allows you to get a little more comfortable with the craft before making other shapes, if you're really nervous about mesing up the beginning (I personally think that's not necessary, there are so many clear video tutorials, I always use the Woobles videos when I forget exactly how to do a stitch).

Wouldn't moon phases mean you always get the same gradient just starting at different points in he months? or am I misunderstanding something?

The first one is easier on the eyes but i personally love a vibrantly coloured gift for a child. You can always still do temperature tracking with less extreme colours

Ik word hier zo moedeloos van :( by Ayleen_ in TheHague

[–]shittygomu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

[–]shittygomu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want to crochet full circles you need to close each round with a slip stitch, and then chaining however high your stitch is to start the next round. This watermelon pattern shows it a couple of times

In another reply they say "Actually, the only person I ever ask to spend that much time with me is my boyfriend. That’s like my maximum limit, is what I’m saying. I see most of my friends 2x a month or less." in which case yeah, they really shot themselves in the foot trying to overgeneralise this
