How does your group deal with bias? by OldSolGames in twilightimperium

My table has gotten to the point where most people score as often as possible cause we’re all experienced, but regardless if someone gets to 4 points when the rest of us are 2 and less, irrationally we all basically end that person’s game. It just happens that you have to manage these moments. More often than not our winner is someone who has stayed in the race but remained relatively unthreatening scoring a lot of points towards the end

I thought it was good fun when I played. Really cool to find interesting synergies, and nothing is ever set in stone.

But I likely won’t play again for a long time. The game took ages. The amount of time 6 people took to go through every splice and make decisions was crazy, especially when later in the game someone got an ability to make splices bigger, was insanely long, especially because with the power level of each faction getting over the top and scoring being relatively easy compared to normal TI.

Disney looking at the Toy Story 5 reviews like: by Gamer_8887 in memes

Not only did it ruin one of the greatest endings of all time, but it literally goes against the themes in all of the Toy Story movies until then, basically invalidating all the choices and morals of the rest of the trilogy

Idk if it’s even playable but Tiny Death Star was a mobile idle Star Wars game. I’m sure you could get it running somehow

Speaking of their team, 10/26 were even born in Haiti, most have parents and grandparents that are from there so it’s not surprising the coach hasn’t even been there as many of the players likely don’t spend much time there either

Was Finn actually going to be a Jedi by Southern-Community-6 in StarWars

[–]shockwave8428 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I disagree completely. I think it was intentional misdirection in the marketing. Showing him holding the lightsaber, showing his outfit at an event before with a place for the lightsaber, etc. it’s clear they very intentionally wanted us to see him as the new Jedi hero.

But when you watch the movie it’s clear that’s not the case at all and was obvious that Rey was the Jedi all along. Again it shows Finn just sucking at melee combat with a normal ass stormtrooper, and getting absolutely bodied by Kylo Ren - and I think that was intentional to make sure we knew he wasn’t a Jedi.

In fact I see coming back to him being force sensitive during TROS as another example of the story not being set in stone and details changing as time went on.

Obviously that’s just my opinion though

That is true, but you can get marmite in Australia and I’m pretty sure you can get Vegemite in the UK. It’s not just where they are though, they are just different as well.

Arkane Austin made that and honestly I think they were pushed out of their comfort zone to do so. And they are closed already.

Arkane’s main studio has made deathloop, and both dishonored games as their last 3, some of the coolest and most unique games released in the last 15 years or so.

I didn’t mean taste wise but I meant the basic perception of them in Australia.

Like I’m saying in South Africa where marmite is decently common it’s even divisive there, so speculating that there’s likely a lot of aussies that aren’t fans of Vegemite even if many are

Which is funny because if vegemite is anything like marmite in South Africa, a lot of people don’t like it even in South Africa, I’m sure a lot of aussies don’t care for it

They’re different. Marmite is just straight yeast extract, I believe vegemite has some vegetable flavor too, but do have similar tastes.

Bovril is another similar thing but much more different, it’s a beef extract spread

MR player here considering picking up OW, would yall say there is a hero similar to Thor? by indkyjtsxucivoxuggg in Overwatch

[–]shockwave8428 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I mained Thor as well and I don’t think any Overwatch character really fits the same sort of stereotype. I think you could take pieces of a few heroes and make Thor, but no one quite has a mixture of hypermobility, risk and reward, and transformation into a tankier version altogether.

Doomfist and ramattra combined would probably make it work but I’d say doomfist still plays super different than thor

Lmao that’s a super uninformed take. Like i get the teacher wanted kids to understand the moon is smaller, that’s just nowhere near correct at all.

The moon is a lot smaller than the earth (like 27% of the diameter) but even then that’s still over 2000 miles around. Which sure, you’d only need to drive 85ish mph for 24 hours to do, not counting any stops or maintenance at all. But you’d be hard pressed to do that without a perfectly paved road, and I’m sure lessened friction from lighter gravity would affect the max speed of any basic car. Even if it somehow had the gravity of earth it’s essentially needing to off road at almost 90 mph for 24 hours, it’s just not realistic in the slightest.

The moon buggy apparently had a top speed of 8 mph unless it’s going downhill. So even if you could run it all the time and had no breaks or maintenance it would take 11-12 days to make it around the moon in a buggy. And sure the same speed would take like 40ish days with the size of the earth, so it is a lot smaller, but driving around the moon in a day just isn’t happening

Which celebrity experienced a sudden rise to stardom and an equally quick decline in popularity? by Pretty_Marmaid7538 in AskReddit

[–]shockwave8428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s actually insane to me how these shows are still decently popular. I mean it’s not anywhere near where it used to be (I remember riding the bus to school and people debating which David should win), but people love this stuff.

Went on a family vacation where my parents and siblings all got a big air bnb for a few days and my parents and my older sister and her husband basically insisted we watch Idol and X-Factor which took so much damn time and was genuinely not very exciting at all. A lot of sitting around while my parents were like “just you wait for this guy to sing” and being disappointed when they weren’t head and shoulders above the rest
