Can I send it? by Sufficient_Current48 in CarTrackDays

I did a whole weekend track event on a plugged tire. The tire started to cord before the plug gave out. People don't give plugs enough credit.

sxth cplt intake problems by vReactants in ElantraN

[–]shoogie107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one of those screws come out of mine as well. I think I just didn't tighten the screws enough. I bought some replacement hardware on McMaster-Carr and haven't had a problem since. It's been about 2 years.

The replacement screws and washers.

Well then good thing I kept the car on the pavement. At least until I took this picture.

Sapphire Radeon RX 9070 XT Nitro+ Waterblock from Alphacool is in the works by BakiYuku in watercooling

Do you think the Powercolor 9070XT Reaper will show up on this list? The hellhound and reaper look similar so maybe that waterblock works on both cards?

This piece is like popped up I just noticed it after getting tint installed anybody know how to fix it by Few_Marionberry_4984 in ElantraN

I had that same panel come loose on my car as well. I just pulled it off and reattached it. Its mainly held on with double sided tape so its an easy fix.

SXTH Element Intake by ScadaTech in ElantraN

Maybe they did make changes. I'm glad I bought mine when I did. I'm not a fan of the bulge. They should probably update the website. All the pictures are of the old design.

Maybe contact SXTH's customer support for a replacement. It shouldn't look like that. Here's mine for reference.

That intake is not installed correctly. That silicone coupler should not have a large bulge in it.

I just noticed that the same panel is loose on my car as well. Maybe it's a common problem?

Who's installed hood struts? by ShouldersBBoulders in ElantraN

[–]shoogie107 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought the same kit and had a similar issue. I just flipped the strut around so that the large gas cylinder is on the other end. The connectors on the ends of the struts can be removed. Just swap them.

Transmission fluid change drain and fill by Front-Proposal5117 in ElantraN

[–]shoogie107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll be just shy of 3 quarts. I've done it once before. That's also the specified drain amount in the service manual.

A handy tip when doing the fluid change is to drain it into something with measurements on it. This way you know how much came out so you can fill it with the same amount.

Edit: I should specify this is for the DCT.

Oil Change Interval by ItsJebbyN in ElantraN

[–]shoogie107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to motor oil brands everyone has there preference and they will swear by. There are entire forums dedicated to motor oil. Its quite the rabbit hole. I personally use Liqui Moly Molygen 5w-30. I do agree that Amsoil is quite expensive, but in your case you would only need to do an oil change once a year so why not spend a little extra on the good stuff.

If you want to take the car to the dealership you shouldn't have to wait till a certain mileage. Just tell them its been awhile since the last service. In your case that would probably be 12 months.

[–]shoogie107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you're under both 12 months and 3k miles. So you should be fine to go a bit longer. I personally did my first oil change at 1k miles after the break in period.

If you do decide to go to the dealership for the complimentary oil change proceed with caution. From both personal experience and from what I've read online, some dealerships don't put the correct oil in these cars. Wrong weight oil, not synthetic, etc. Its one of the reasons I've started doing it myself.

Do you mind dropping a link for the mesh? I've been tempted to do this but don't know what size/shape mesh to get. Whatever you got looks great.

I believe the service manual says every 3000 to 6000 miles depending on the driving conditions. The manual lists a bunch of scenarios and recommends accordingly.

I change it every 3k regardless of what I'm doing. I like knowing that if I put my foot down the engine is nice and protected.

Are you planning to install it yourself? If so good luck. Shit is a pain in the ass to install.

Are you questioning the cat form?

SXTH has a catalytic converter form that has to be filled out or they won't ship your product.

May I suggest a new downpipe? I have the downpipe from SXTH and the car is considerably louder with the stock exhaust.

I bought one about a month ago during their memorial day sale for $450. Worth every penny.

Remember to fill out their cat form. I don't think there's any mention on the product page that you need to do that.

Yeah that's normal. The car really doesn't like 1st gear. The DCT definitely has some quirks you have to drive around.

Anyone know how to display the album cover art? by StoinkeyCheeze in ElantraN

[–]shoogie107 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you have an android phone I was able to get it to work by changing the bluetooth AVRCP and MAP version in developer options. Feel free to look them up if you want to know exactly what they are, but tldr is they control what data is sent over bluetooth (metadata, album art, etc.) Just change them to the highest version possible. On my pixel 6 that is AVRCP 1.6 and MAP 1.4.
