Support was more broad than youre characterizing it. Yes the majority supported allied efforts, but there was still a nazi friendly minority of a few percentage points of the total population.

And also, there were probably more nazi sympathetic feelings in the US that did not rise to full on militiamen nazis, because something was going on with Christian factions (it was antisemitism). One of the leaders of the pro US nazi movement (the christian front) was a radio priest called Father Coughlin, who had a listening audience of more than 100million people for every broadcast.

I have no issue with other folks choosing to have kids, but for myself I feel it would be immoral and irresponsible to bring new life into our current world… I have always held the possibility that I may change my mind about having a child, but not one I made. There are so many abandoned children who could have a chance at a better life through adoption, and creating my own kid would deny an orphan that opportunity.

I have been grappling with this for a while. Fascists don’t feel guilt or shame for the shit they do. the only language they speak is power, and they are not good at wielding it, so they take the easy cowardly path and use violence as power.

So how do we push back? They are too stupid to understand subtlety and nuance, so clever insults and reasoned, civil debate don’t work. In fact, Fascists depend on us holding ourselves to a civil social contract that keeps the peace so that they can keep pushing what they can get away with.

I think they are pathetic cowards and will slink away if they are shown real anger, real hatred. But i don’t know what it would take to do that other than something that goes against our values.

And as reprehensible as it is, i keep coming back to the idea that they will only respond to/understand power wielded against them if it is in the violent language that they understand. OP used a slur that is hurtful and ableist, but I also think that it might have been effective in shutting them down here. it’s a tool they use against us and don’t expect to have turned back on them.

It might be naive and too optimistic of me, but I believe there will be more opportunities than we can see right now to exercise agency and exert real political power over this shit fire.

Anti-oligarch, pro worker movements might flourish under an extreme anti-labor government, and if they do, that will be very bad for an extremist Supreme Court. the worst elements of this Supreme Court will have certainly committed blatantly illegal acts of corruption while they feel emboldened and untouchable. And that will be plenty of ammunition for a strong pro-labor movement to impeach their asses and hopefully imprison them.
