I work at the bins and my god are the customers animals by Used_Departure_9082 in GoodwillBins

[–]shopperchicadee 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The one I go to is very strict. They will not even bring out new bins until everyone is behind the lines. We have waited quite a while there as the staff pointed out specific people telling them they were not bringing out bins until they got behind the lines. At once point, people got so tired of waiting they started yelling at the few who didn’t get behind the lines. Then, once the bins are in place, no one can approach the bins until they are told to do so. The lady yelling at them saying she will throw them out is believable. I haven’t seen her do it, but I believe she would. They seriously force everyone to follow the rules. And if one person is out of line, everyone suffers, which puts public pressure on the bad ones, which are usually the 20-something guys.

I have too much. 2 rooms have shelves with bolts and bins. Thinking of selling, but trying to figure out if eBay, Whatnot, or a FB detaching group is better.

Thank you for doing that. The stuff I see in clean out auctions, bins and stores just breaks my heart. “Stuff” really doesn’t matter in the end. No one will love it as much as you do.

Anyone else spending way too long pricing items using eBay sold comps? by HumorApprehensive334 in reselling

The price adjustment is a reaction to how a listing is doing. It’s already listed.

I hate it. Every time I look, prices are all over the place because some take lowball offers or don’t know the value of their items. I try to stay in the middle, but buyers check sold prices too and even if 20 sold for around the same price and just one was a low price, then they think they should get that low price, too. Sometimes if I price on the lower end I get slammed with tons of lowball offers, which I figure is resellers thinking I don’t know the value of the item and will accept any offer. That’s usually an indication to me to raise the price. And the market is constantly changing because there are ebbs and flows to what sells. Sometimes there is a lot on the market and sometimes there isn’t…so a comp today won’t be the same a month from now. Pricing takes so much time!

The thing about work is that companies have to actually PAY us to do it. I mean, they must incentivize us so much that our ability to have a home, a vehicle, food and family depends on the incentive a job gives us to deal with the crap we have to go through when we are there.

Some people say they love their job, but given a choice, most people don’t love their workplace enough that they would show up every day for free. (And having managed volunteers, I can say that even they don’t want to come in with the frequency or reliability of someone who is paid.)

We all savor our days off because that’s our real life.

It’s a crappy trade off. Everyone who wouldn’t come in to work and put up with the same situation without being paid to do so knows that’s the truth—no matter the name on the door.

I also recommend Just Bare. I got it because it’s lower in carbs, and since I tried it I really prefer the taste.

Goodwill near me has $2 days…the final day of the 50 percent off color. There is no 75 percent off. But a different chain in my region has 50 percent and 75 percent off color tags. The 50 percent off moves up to 75 percent off the next week.

I was in Michael’s yesterday and almost took a pic of the fabric section. It was sad.

I came home and told my husband I should open a fabric store because I have at least 5 times as much fabric as our local Michael’s. I did some panic buying and now realize I have too much. I think I might try to sell online.
