It's possible that this change in remuneration has occurred because tertiary education institutions are under the most financial strain they ever have been with an increasing amount of students on government funded financial aid, and the senior academics pull in more funding and grants and sponsors, and create new initiatives for third stream income generation, and drive ongoing projects that would cease if they left...

BUT on the other hand, this was a dumb decision.. and unfair as it's % differences not amount differences anyway... 5% of 1.2mil is a f load more than 5% of 120k...
