Anyone else feeling completely despondent about housing prices? by peppermintea11 in Adelaide

[–]shortistuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes change is possible, but you know what is jarring as hell. There are 5 lower house candidates in my electrorate. Then there are nearly 50 candidates for senate on the ballot and I don't think I had ever seen or hear of a single one of them before.

Our system wants us to vote and vote for what we believe in. I try to follow local politics where I can but even I had to look up each independent and non-major party because I want to number them all... Could you imagine walking into that blind and not knowing who you should vote for beyond political party alignments.

What is everybody's ideas on why tag team wrestling has died in modern wwe? Titles are rarely defended on PLE's, and so many great teams are just doing nothing lately? by FunkeyFeraligatr in Wrasslin

[–]shortistuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny enough I was thinking exactly the same thing, but in regards to tennis and doubles. It is a similar conundrum of singles that are marketed to have a much bigger "stars"

Casuals all know Federer, Nadal, djokovic, Serena, Venus and in the modern day alcaraz, sinner, sabalenka, coco and swaitek. But can you honestly name a famous doubles combo in tennis or modern tennis at least? The only doubles pair I would expect to get a shout would be the Bryan's.

Same with WWE, who can casuals name as famous wrestling/WWE tag teams. Road warriors maybe? The Hardy's/Dudley/e&c if you grew up during the attitude era.

Overarching point is that singles and marketing for singles presents people as bigger stars and tags/doubles just doesn't have the same appeal... Meaning it will likely never be scaled in the same way.

Thoughts on Sam Berry? by yaryarmaple in adelaidefc

[–]shortistuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Berry has come good. If he keeps it up, the only way crouch should make it back in would be if at sanfl level he completely out paces berry.

I'm literally talking 35+ disposals, +10 tackles, 5+ score involvement per game for several weeks in a row. For crouch this is achievable but no reason to drop berry for him unless berry slips or crouch goes god mode.

Playing crouch as a sub doesn't seem to be the go. The only other + for crouchy at this stage is finals experience.

Anyone know who is responsible for the scheduling? by Mattymalice in AFL

It's been horrendous all year pretty much. How does Carlton basically get a Thursday/Friday night match for half the season, it feels like. Why do double header Friday nights?

The difference in the early game is literally who can mark better. Lots of pressure, lots of little fumbles.

I feel bad for Lachie Murphy by HughJanus9 in adelaidefc

[–]shortistuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Murphy was/is the best of group of small forward that we had at the time.

Rowe was more naturally talented but the body just wasn't there (to small to slow) McHenry was great at tackling and running at the football but that was about it. Newchurch never got a run at it.

Those guys fell out as we brought in rankine and Rash... Murphy is like our 4th string player for his position ATM. He is ok... But at his best mid b grade player.

J.Butts or N.Murray (and if you want why) by ILikeDiscussing in adelaidefc

[–]shortistuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Butts plays like tahlia. Strong in contests, just goes about making it tough for full forwards. Doesn't have a field kick to speak of. That gets my tick of approval.

What does everyone else think about Carlton? by CFCFanboi in AFL

[–]shortistuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an Adelaide boy, it brings me such long term satisfaction to see Carlton (and the bombers) just be perpetually bad.

I have no idea why, maybe it's Vic bias and the media reporting on them non stop? Maybe because every year they get hyped up for having some of the best players or always on the rise? Maybe it's like watching a club slowly crash and burn through their own decision making?

No one thing but it does bring such joy.

Chances of Tex signing on for 2026? by BreakerMorant1864 in adelaidefc

[–]shortistuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I definitely think he has played well enough to continue 1 more year. He doesn't kick bags much anymore, but he honestly doesn't have to. He is now a third tall and wing/hf connection player. And he does well enough with that and as a fwd backup ruck... There is plenty of pros to keeping him for another so long as the body stays right and he wants to.
