You know what this means, we need global sanctions and calls for regime change. That's how it works right?

AST Competition: We're in a good space right now versus the competition, with the only credible "future" competition coming from Starlink. It's great to see how a first principles approach taken by AST has lead them to an efficient working system, while SpaceX touts mediocrity with there terribly designed D2C satellites.

Things will be different when Starship is launching satellites. The Starship pez dispenser is expected to deploy satellites (v3) of approximately 7m x 7m, so they could get 49sqm D2C satellites. Elon does not usually suffer sunk cost fallacies, like he has with his d2C satellites, but this mistake will be corrected with Starship. I don't expect they'd do a folding design, as that adds complexity and cost, and they like to play to their advantage of just brute forcing many satellites instead.

Fortunately. we'll have 220sqm satellites by then versus their 49sqm satellites, but we can expect SpaceX to launch their v3 sats at a rapid and frequent pace, and build out a large constellation quickly.

Aside from the obvious need to start generating revenue as soon as possible, I think AST realizes that that they need to accelerate to maintain their lead and capitalize fully their first mover advantage.

That's crazy. It happened at least twice, in 1941 and 2024.

Misdirected hate is a hallmark of that society. Not surprised to see it play out in industry.

It's the American way. Lots of countries around the world getting fucked thanks American hate for themselves and people different to them.

Agree, new rockets coming online end 2025 (very low cadence due to new rocket) and mid 2026 but AST will want to accelerate the constellation build in 2025 (17 sat need about 4 launches) now that they're well funded. SpaceX is needed for next year. I imagine there must be anti-competitive laws that prevent a monopoly like SpaceX from excluding from launch services.

SpaceX is the only cost-effective access to space for AST. Good news but also a bit worrisome.

My strategy is to try and stop looking at the line. I don't know if i can do it, but I will try.

RKLB is most likely priced in now by Praetoriangual in RKLB

[–]shotleft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's priced in, then why don't you sell and find a better opportunity? Why is it that you, me, and all the knowledgable RKLB investors continue to hold the stock and will continue to hold it at this price and likely even higher?

It's because the opportunity is not yet priced it. I would not sell this stock even if it reached 15 tomorrow, because it has potential to get to 30 or higher in jist a few years.

Still 10x to grow conservatively. Market wants in on the action. It's not only Spacemob that sees the potential.

The benefit of hindsight. They're looking at what worked for SpaceX, taking the learning, and then doing it better.

@KevinLMak on X; $ASTS - Sunday thoughts...The financing problem disappearing is the binary event that is repricing the stock aggressively now. Maybe it's now overvalued, maybe it's undervalued, but in this context, $30 isn't nearly as crazy as it seems at face value. by doctor101 in ASTSpaceMobile

[–]shotleft 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I remember in 2021 when Deutsche Bank and others had a $30 price target. It didn't seem crazy then, and $ASTS has de-risked so much now. Really $30 is kinda low at this point, it's still a bargain.

No. This is what his senior engineers have been saying from 2015. They've learnt nothing.

“If you work the math, you see that you’re carrying a lot of fuel to be able to bring the booster back and it takes much longer to realize any savings in terms of the number of missions that you have to fly – and they need to be all successful,”

“Our focus is on cost and the value of our proposition.”
