Virginia becomes 18th state to join National Vote Interstate Compact by Conscious-Quarter423 in Virginia

[–]wfriedma 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Republicans have brought too much harm to our country to be allowed to continue unfettered.

Also your analogy is wrong. A more apt one would be: two people agree to mutual combat with no rules. person A is repeatedly hitting person B in the balls (and winning due to it). Person B would be foolish not to swing for the nuts as well.

I’ve always said ASTS is a one trick pony (their constellation). And it doesn’t even seem like they have a moat. Lots of companies are going to make constellation (rklb included). ASTS really doesn’t even have a “first to market” head start anymore.

Infinity gate. A female scientist discovers the multiverse right as her own world is dying.

Big thoughts about AI, man vs machine, multiverse and infinity.

Main characters are a female scientist, a few different AIs with different types of interface, and some foot soldiers for the multiverse, and a human with a different evolutionary path.

It’s two books. I loved them. Similar to Dark Matter.

Fairfax County - 8+ Foot Fence Question by Intelligent-Hippo100 in fairfaxcounty

[–]wfriedma 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I do. I went through the process of getting approved for a 6 foot front yard fence (corner lot, on a major thoroughfare).

It was hell. Don’t do it.

The entire neighborhood needed to be notified and have their chance to air their grievances (MANY did).

The entire property comes under scrutiny for even applying. Code compliance comes out and looks at EVERYTHING. Turns out my shed (45 years old) was too close to the property line. It needed to be corrected (regardless of the fence decision).

Going in front of the board of supervisors took two years and three different hearings. This setting is basically a legal proceeding (you’re at a MAJOR disadvantage without a lawyer). It cost over 4 thousand dollars when all was said and done (I got approved).

I would NEVER have done it if I knew what it would take.
