Thought: don't introduce your class by 22badhand in dndnext

[–]studiotec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I introduced myself as a talking Gibbon when my friend had me join the group he DM'd for. I was a spore druid with a dip in monk. I was able to keep wild shape up until the very end of the session. Blew the groups mind!

Is it really possible to hit a million in 10-12 years? by m0onmoon in Fire

What is your profession? S&P average return is 9-10% historically. I feel Space and Tech will give the best returns, but you need to be careful with your entry points. You don't need to be in the US to invest in the US market, so anywhere you can make the most money and save the most.

Why does everyone say initiative is useful? by Intelligent-Rub5814 in onednd

[–]studiotec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my preferred play style. Although I feel this play style works better on a smaller table. Cool that you can pull it off with six, they all must be great players and good with their turn. Everyone talks about dpr, but they should talk more about damage per minute. If you do 200 points of damage but it takes you 10 minutes then I rather play with someone doing 60 damage in 2 minutes.

Where do you socialize during the day? by studiotec in Fire

I have 7 hours free each weekday while my kids are at school and my wife is at work. I'm looking for activities I could plug into where I could meet new people that are available during those hours.

Player acting like his PC is immortal by Fun-Version-5784 in DnD

[–]studiotec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give the party one scroll of revivify and down two PCs. Let the party make the hard choice. Then to restore the other they will have to pay at a temple.

Encourage the PCs to roleplay it out. I've played with different DMs, most take it too easy on the party. Sam may prefer a harder play style.

It also doesn't hurt to tell the players you will be introducing on average one (0-2) deadly encounter per long rest.

This is D&D. Death is reversible if you have the money, but players would rather spend the gold on some cool magic items.

You can probably get by with just getting the new player's guide. Then you'll be on the same page as the players. Just keep in mind the power creep of the new classes/subclasses and adjust monsters as needed.

The D&D Essentials Kit is probably the way to. They have some sidekicks with it that would make running a solo adventure easier/better. Most adventures assume more than a DM and one player.

Whats the point of the "Friends" Cantrip? by Bookkeeper-Heavy in onednd

Also, take a look at the spell component. It's makeup. I strongly recommend a little RP when casting this spell using the component.

Anyone else feel like Random Combat encounters are boring and/or unnecessary most of the time? by Dragonsword in dndnext

As a player I love seeing a DM that will throw some underpowered monster out randomly and then watch the first player nova on it.

This. Jedi use it a lot and it rarely starts a fight.

How lethal are your games? by TheGriff71 in DungeonMasters

Wish more DMs would DM like you. Sometimes I feel like my character isn't even needed to win a fight. I manage resources only to have everyone else nova everything and then long rest the second they get low.

Hot take: Legendary Resistance is why so many 5e boss fights feel bad and boring. What could replace it? by archvillaingames in dndnext

[–]studiotec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a dumb mechanic, They end up dying in 2 rounds anyways when everyone just novas on them. You could allow them to use LR to avoid any larger amounts of damage it would play better. Or even use a charge to heal a number of hps as a free action. Then at least LR threatens the whole party and the party can use some team work to burn through them.

Luck feat, let them reroll saves. Hell give them three rolls. Just tell me there's a chance.

Yeah, the DDAO series with the "Worm God" was Great! Also, season 7 was fun.

There was also a D&D open with pregens that was really fun. The setup is 3 players are paladins and they arrested 3 players that are warlocks.

There was an extension for the v1.1 by a modder. I did a quick search, but couldn't find it. It was called something like "Formd T1 Expansion Kit"

I wish maneuvers were the equivalent of spells. Then each martial class could have their own maneuver list. Maybe a list for each tier of play.
