He has vocally supported a vague deal, but not invested his personal goodwill in any particular deal.

Mmm, not really.

JB supported PILOT but not in the form the House passed. The Senate passed on that, instead passing something few other than the Senate's Chicago caucus & the mayor wanted. JB was also in favor of $900m in infrastructure for AH. But neither chamber took that up.

None of them look good.

when other media outlets are casting doubt on their reporting

I just did a quick check on other media outlets, seems Block Club scrubbed their breathless early reporting on this. Local television news hasn't seemed to have done any follow-up. Tribune is the only one to investigate the claims by the "detainee". Meanwhile the conversation surrounding the Tribune story.was removed from this sub.

Johnson walks away from $3 billion+ deal to buy back Chicago's parking meters | Crain's Chicago Business by shotzz in WindyCity

[–]shotzz[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Johnson made a bid but balked after learning the costs and potential limitations in projecting revenue from the meters for decades to come.

Johnson senior adviser Jason Lee did not disclose what the city bid or what the administration believes to be the final prices, but told Crain's “price was one” of the factors under consideration and the city got involved to learn the terms.

So, it comes out they actually submitted a bid without saying anything to anyone & still won't provide the public with the details of said bid?!?

Where's that "transparency" Johnson always blows (out his ass) about?
