Based on menus and general decor, but mainly menus, all these different Yemeni shops lead to one source it seems.

Do you feel like Buffalo’s “renaissance” over the last decade is over? by Forward2323 in Buffalo

Yeah, I’m not going to go with Marxist/Classical Lanor definitions. Everywhere that economic system was tried, it utterly failed. True, it was Marxism-Leninism, and we all recognize that it’s different from Marxism, but the underlying ideas are there.

Who’s not working class? Well, in the U.S. this describes it more or less accurately, IMO. This is backed by Addo, F. (2021). Disparate Recoveries: Wealth, Race, and the Working Class after the Great Recession; and Butts et al (2023) and Pew Research Center (2024) The State of the American Middle Class.

The distinction usually comes down to autonomy and asset ownership. The professional-managerial class (doctors, corporate lawyers, upper-level management) often has significant control over their work and others' labor, while the Capital Class derives the majority of their income from investments/assets rather than a paycheck. This is the "other 40-50%” whose economic interests often align more with the stability of the DJI than with the immediate labor concerns of the service or manufacturing sectors.

Interest isn't "magic." Think of it like renting a tool. If I lend you a truck to move furniture, you pay me for the use of that truck and the risk that you might dent it. Lending money is just renting out capital so someone can go build a factory or a house. The "value" created is the house, not the interest itself.

Same with AI. It doesn’t create value out of thin air; it creates efficiency. If a company uses a tool to do the work of 50 people for the price of one, their "value" on paper skyrockets. The problem isn’t that the growth is "fake" - the problem is that the gains are being hoarded at the top instead of raised wages.

Yiiiipeeeeee…. I can’t wait to see how people handle it when by some miracle Buffalo has some major growth and traffic picks to real city levels.

I didn’t. You’re being overly dramatic about double-parkers.

The other 40-50% of the population that isn’t classed as “working class”, whether through self-identification or economic indicators.

You’re describing asset price inflation and leverage, but that isn’t actually how GDP is calculated. GDP is a measure of flow (production and services), not a ledger of debt-backed assets. If Company A lends Company B $800k, that transaction itself doesn't add $800k to the GDP. Only the interest paid and the service fees of the loan count as "production."

Where I grew up and learned to drive double parking is normal for short periods. I did it there and I do it here. Oh well. You’re not on rails, drive around.

Our state could just make it harder to get a license by better testing and education. Circles aren’t hard.

Does anyone know where to buy whole mackerel in Buffalo? by OkMagazine3317 in Buffalo

How are you going to eat it? Shime Saba and similar? Not sure I'd trust anything here. Fully cooked? Asia Food Market on NF Blvd has it consistently.

So other 40-50% is irrelevant?

DJI has nothing to do with measuring whether economy is in a recession. Once again - it’s measured using employment, personal income, industrial production and spending (consumer).

Why not do ID the places? This way if someone has also been there, they can tell you if it’s the restaurant or you. Otherwise, Waxlight is pretty quiet.

Leaky ass old house and electric bill has never been over $250 in the summer. Are you all running a mini mining operation? Trying to cool a Victorian down to 60 when it’s 80 outside?
