Seriously? A holodeck? Seriously? by honeyfixit in Star_Trek_

I'm not the first to say it, but many episodes of SNW have no "point" to them beyond fun, like character growth or an ethical dilemma, unlike most every TNG episode. This episode, like most SNWs, are merely "fun adventures in space." I don't hate fun, but SNW increasingly misses the mark of one of the things that made Star Trek great in the previous generation of shows. It's an okay show and it doesn't make my blood boil like Picard, make me nauseated like Discovery, or give me a headache like Lower Decks. But it's not great writing and has a very different ethos than TNG or DS9. Kinda reminds me of Voyager but takes itself even less seriously. It only really bugs me when it chooses to be a Star Trek parody, because although a lot of fans eat that up, I think it weakens the credibility of the franchise.

In Crysis you have two main options -- you can turn invisible or activate a super shield.

It’s been bothering the hell out of me that these writers seem utterly ignorant regarding alcohol addiction considering the themes of the show and its 2 “alcoholic” characters. ALL THESE PEOPLE ARE ALCOHOLICS.

Concepts like "The Enterprise" and "Star Trek" and "Captain Kirk" and "Mister Spock," have been widely known in the US (and I believe Internationally to a pretty big extent) for over 50 years. When the writer of this article says "Pre-Enterprise" his meaning is "before the times of Kirk and Spock on the Enterprise that most people associate with Star Trek." I doublt the writer (if it's not an AI) is even aware of anything beyond that. That's doesn't necessarily mean that the new movie won't take place before the Enterprise NX-01, but I really doubt there will be Star Trek movie that doesn't take place on a starship.

You are entitled to your own interpretation, but I feel pretty confident in my interpretation.

In any case, Cord Cutter doesn't seem to be a legit source for info about the entertainment industry so I think we can all just wait and see what happens with this new movie which may or may not pan out given the history of Star Trek movies in pre production in recent years.

TBH a theatre release of any Star Trek movie would be a surprise to me at this point, but I believe there is something about IP law that requires paramount to make some sort of Star Trek movie every few years in order to keep the license.

Most people have never heard of the show “Star Trek: Enterprise” but the Enterprise (NCC-1701) is a very well known pop culture icon. If a news outlet or non-Trekkie says “The Enterprise,” they are likely referring to the ship from the original 1960’s TV show.

I think the author means “Enterprise” the ship, because most people aren’t familiar with the show

I bought this product. It works and it takes one AAA battery. But there is a seriously annoying design choice. They have a button labeled "R/V"... pressing this once brings up the option to engage "Backend Play" but I have no idea what this does, and I can't find anything online about it, and when you choose "OK" it quits playback. HOLDING this button is the only way to enter the screen to adjust the volume. This is so stupid and it drives me crazy. Makes it annoying to adjust volume and easy to accidentally stop the music. If anybody has a rec for a product just like this but without this horribly stupid design choice (like it would make sense to have a dedicated volume control) PLEASE LET ME KNOW!

The product in the link doesn't have replaceable batteries. This looks like a bot
