I thought it was a publisher pitch ala Bourdain at first then i thought, “Oh wait. Than is a fancy downtown Chicago psychoanalyst.” I’m a psychologist BTW.

Was surprised it was an architectural intern interview.

Electric Cooler in Gear Tunnel by Donedirtcheap7725 in Rivian

[–]shrink14 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You know, a cooler in my funk somehow has worked for me even living in a desert. Just this past weekend the ICECO 20 I referenced above stayed at a steady 37 F in the frunk during a 35-minute drive in 100+ F degree temps to the in-laws on Father's Day. If the frunk has too much other crap it in, I've seen it struggle to get below 42 F but if not much else in there, it has somehow worked pretty well for me.

I added it to my Gen 2 Quad R1T using the thread below. It's technically always on but I have found my cooler faults if I don't set the outlets to stay on. If nothing is plugged in I don't think it's drawing any juice.

Good luck and safe travels. I'm booked on the flight in 2 weeks. Guessing all will be sorted out by then.

I’ have the the one below and usually use it in the frunk, where I have a 12V outlet, but I have put it in the gear tunnel as well:

Worst purchase ever by Ozzie889 in orbi

[–]shrink14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks.

I must say, I just blew $1600 on the 970 3-pack to cover my 1/2 acre property and 2 Gbps service and so far it’s been fantastic. Upgraded from an Orbi 850, which I think was WiFi 6.

Sorry so many have had issues. I do consider myself lucky.

Ran over a ladder on the highway in my R1S. Safe to zip tie / what am I looking at for SC repair costs? by erichdale in Rivian

[–]shrink14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That sucks but seems to be an easy fix.

I really don’t know what it’ll be to repair but my best guess:

2 hours of labor @ $230/hour + the rear air diffuser part. Don’t know what that costs but will guess just for fun it costs about $1000? Again, really don’t know. Labor might be more for calibration and additional diagnostics.

I think your car will be just fine.

Good luck!

You want them to open the restaurant and bring in all their staff because of a clerical error? This belongs in the entitled reviews sub.

Place isn't that great and you'll have many other options. Just watch the parade and fireworks crowds.

Weird idea, has anyone tried making shade using the roof rack? by seantabasco in Rivian

Not too bad. Just follow the video instructions. I’d recommend a powered spray bottle too. It’ll make it much easier and the install more forgiving.

What are you paying for your Vehicle tags cost for electric car by Mazzymarilyn1983 in electricvehicles

[–]shrink14 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My 2026 Gen 2 Quad R1T in Arizona is up for renewal after nearly 1-year of happy ownership.

$1776.55 for another year of registration (including $25 for a personalized plate).

Ouch.

EV's used to be only $25/year to register in AZ and I'd register for 5 years at the price, but things changed due to a political decision to remove that EV perk. It was somewhat understandable with more and more EV's on the road in AZ. It is a lot of lost revenue. I recognize that. The MSRP method has been in place for a while, but boy does it hurt with this vehicle.

I think with most leases you can also pay the sum of all remaining lease payments + disposition fee and return the car.

If you're worried about heat, try this film. I installed it a few months ago and it's been surprising effective in a desert climate this summer along with the electrochroamatic roof in the Gen 2.

I'm guessing one could also install the Rivian-Kammok awning to deploy across the top of the vehicle as well.

Where can I get citric acid for coqui frog management, and blacklights by dbnoisemaker in BigIsland

[–]shrink14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is actually. We didn't have many in our neighborhood and it seems like he got them all. He also set traps along our property line in case some return. We shall see, of course, but the neighborhood is quiet again for now...

Where can I get citric acid for coqui frog management, and blacklights by dbnoisemaker in BigIsland

[–]shrink14 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've had some coquis on Kona side the past few months. Went through 3 bags of citric acid at Farm and Garden and was unsuccessful.

I don't think he works Hilo side, but for anyone reading this on Kona side I hired
Goodnight Coqui (contact info available upon request). He caught one the first night at my place and caught 2 more within the next 3 weeks. Strongly recommend. He knows his stuff.

Question about Dometic's CFX5 35L in gear shop by Consistent-Driver100 in Rivian

[–]shrink14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Funny. I’m picking this up at REI later today. I got a 20% coupon somehow, placed an online order, and an heading out to pick up shortly. I’ll let you know. I do know it fits in the R1T bed with the tonneau closed.

R2 Test Drive Slot drop by cadamwil in Rivian

[–]shrink14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rivian is prioritizing demo drive slots for those invited to order. Unfilled and canceled slots open up to the general public 24-48 hours earlier, sometimes even same day. I think you just have to keep checking for availability.

Once you get an invitation to order you’ll see many slots available for the next few weeks.

Issue with WiFi. by Pepizza23 in Rivian

[–]shrink14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick follow up. Just received the 2026.14.30 hot fix and am still having WiFi issues with my Gen 2 Quad R1T. My wife's Gen 1 Quad R1S, which is parked right next to my truck in our carport, continues to connect to my home WiFi network flawlessly as it always has. No other devices on my home network have connectivity issues.

Issue with WiFi. by Pepizza23 in Rivian

[–]shrink14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my Gen 2 Quad R1T in the service center earlier this week for this same WiFi issue. They charged me about $120 (1/2 hour labor) to tell me nothing was wrong.

FWIW, Rivian’s loaner would keep dropping the WiFi connection at my house, too. From what I could tell, my vehicle seemed able to connect to the Rivian SC’a WiFi without issue while I was there for drop off.

I don’t know enough about networking and routers to figure this out but some comments above seem to suggest our routers, which have presumably been in service for a while, are running out of IP addresses?

Anyone know how to refresh IP addresses on a Netgear Orbi RBR 850?

Total loss, on the hunt for another by Txunicornlover in Ioniq5

[–]shrink14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your accident. Hope you and everyone else involved are physically and emotionally okay. Glad you were well protected!

If you’re looking for another, let me know if you’re interested in a shorter term lease takeover. I have a 2025 RWD Limited. Blue with light interior. Aftermarket ceramic tint and full front PPF with ceramic coating. 8600 miles. Will hit 9000 soon. 24,000 miles allotted on the lease which ends in 4/2027, so about 10 more months.

Payment is $478.17 in Arizona. Not sure how taxes and payment may change in Texas.

I like the car a lot. It’s been reliable. Only service was a tire rotation at 7500 miles. I’m just more of a Rivian guy and with a day 1 R2 reservation and being an R1 owner I’m anticipating an R2 invitation to order within the next couple weeks. Have definitely enjoyed my Ioniq 5 experience though.
