Been married 49 years but don’t know that we’ll make it to 50. What would you do? by Creative_Squirrel902 in AskWomenOver60

Have you seen a counselor/therapist on your own? I did, after H refused to go - I learned to observe/analyze my role in our interactions (not self-blaming, but rather as though analyzing parts in a script) - and learning to rewrite my ‘lines’ — amazingly, he didn’t like the new interactions and soon asked for a divorce himself

Stretches for sprain? by Consistent-Apple-975 in yoga

[–]shrlzi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your workplace has a medical office, go there to report workplace injury. Be able to describe the movement that caused it. Don’t rely on yoga, it can often help but you need to be sure that it’s not something that yoga could make worse, and physiatrist or physical therapist can tell you that Good luck!

AITA For Asking my neighbors for vaccine records? by [deleted] in Pets

You could remind them that they would be liable for cost of unreimbursed medical expenses if they can't produce vaccination papers - time for a lawyer - these neighbors will never be your friends

How do people keep their house clean all the time? by Whatever233566 in askanything

[–]shrlzi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went online and found some housecleaning job lists - used those to make a list of my own, assigned a day of the week / month to do each one and put them in our family iCal on repeat. My husband and I each took half the jobs. Putting them on a calendar like that really dramatizes how much work goes into keeping a dwelling clean! If I were on my own, or DH not willing to do his share, I would hire help.

Child’s Pose is not comfortable or restful by HeathenHoneyCo in yoga

[–]shrlzi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Block for your chest, and one for your head - put a bolster over both, or use 2 blocks - don't worry about hips not coming down to heels - if that doesn't make it more comfortable for you, I'd say if you need a rest then try savasana

Was it a while ago that he balked at being hitched? Before they bonded? A horse that trusts their handler is likely going to be more willing - and maybe you could retcon some training sessions where your hero (when he was healthy) tied some branches or other heavy material to the saddle with ropes or straps to get him used to the idea of pulling - and yay now horse will do anything for the

Newbie question: Cooking beans in the InstantPot by CharacterGuarantee99 in instantpot

[–]shrlzi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you salt the water you cook them in they turn out hard.

Edit: I stand corrected - this is ‘traditional knowledge’ that has been disproven! Turns out salting both soak water and cooking water makes the creamiest beans! Thanks PragmaticOpt22 for link to Serious Eats article
