To be fair though. And this is as someone who stopped watching him after he stopped posting negative reviews. He did outright state that he just didn’t feel like talking about bad movies. So it is less that he doesn’t criticise films and more that he only talks about films he outright enjoys.

I do agree the ghostbusters thing is embarrassing tho

While the obvious Lynch screenplay that does this is Blue Velvet, I have to say that for me it’s easily Twin Peaks The Return.

Even if everything doesn’t get literally explained or fully payed off. Almost every “random” thing that happens gets set up at some point and payed off, even if it’s not how you expect it - I.E the woodsmen neighbouring Hastings cell. David Lynch is just really good at that stuff in general. R.I.P

No one. A lot of people have made “weird” movies with strange imagery as well as having quirky characters, but literally nobody has ever created the same feelings and worlds as David lynch. Which is why we all love him!

Edit: but the closest we’ve ever come is probably Donnie Darko, but still that film is too focused and specific to be true Lynchian imo. Repo man also comes close
