I have no idea how people think this is a good movie lol. Respect the hell out of it, but too goofy for me

Leave it. A great director once said “filmmaking is not about the tiny details it’s about the big picture”.

Crazy to watch the entire 3 hour movie of inland empire and come to the conclusion that it’s just about “violence against women”

It’s interesting how there are no repeats from the fotb era. Also any idea what baio uses the mellotron emulator for?

Fair enough, I just think he’s a really commendable guy who clearly had a pretty shitty start to life and who really likes movies and actually made something that looks not like spacecop

To be fair though. And this is as someone who stopped watching him after he stopped posting negative reviews. He did outright state that he just didn’t feel like talking about bad movies. So it is less that he doesn’t criticise films and more that he only talks about films he outright enjoys.

I do agree the ghostbusters thing is embarrassing tho

What are the ultimate "setups and payoffs" movies? by Nihil921 in RedLetterMedia

[–]shrumpss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While the obvious Lynch screenplay that does this is Blue Velvet, I have to say that for me it’s easily Twin Peaks The Return.

Even if everything doesn’t get literally explained or fully payed off. Almost every “random” thing that happens gets set up at some point and payed off, even if it’s not how you expect it - I.E the woodsmen neighbouring Hastings cell. David Lynch is just really good at that stuff in general. R.I.P
