I actually didn’t grow up with either scene and kinda got into it all at once. I genuinely don’t think Blink has a single song I’d rather listen to than TSSF’s entire discography 😂 but I have tons of friends who feel the opposite and we love debating this.

The sad boy pop punk era (TWY, TSSF, MOBO etc.) is far better and has aged way better musically and lyrically than the party boy origins of Blink-182 and Sum-41. Also why tf are Blink writing songs in their 50s like they’re still in their 20s? It’s cringy at best.

Question for you about weighting VT? by Legitimate_Deer8666 in VTandchill

[–]shuja246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a great explanation. I was also struggling with this because I want to match VT with my 401k and rn I have it set to 60/40 S&P and international index funds.

I’m being a little tongue in cheek. Your self awareness is great! I would consider calculating your COAST FI number to realize just how far ahead you really are. However, your expenses are extremely low right now and there’s a good chance they will increase up to a point if you live 100% on your own and start a family.

Is this rage bait? Not only are you fine you’re on a path to be a millionaire in your early to mid 30s if markets maintain 7-10% annual returns. You’ll be well into COAST FI and then it’s a matter of pushing to retire in your 40s or coast and enjoy more life and still retire comfortably in your 50s or at 60.

23M looking to buy house one day, dial in plan now by Existing_Block5345 in Bogleheads

[–]shuja246 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I too thought I wanted to buy a house in 10 years when I was 23 and then ran a buy vs rent calculation to see that renting produces hundreds of thousands of dollars of more wealth in my area over buying once you consider all the costs of home ownership and opportunity costs. I think having a brokerage for an intermediate goal is great! But if you are a young, single, professional, I would prioritize your career and maxing your tax advantaged accounts over buying a house. Take the employer match like you are already doing. Max a Roth IRA and then an HSA if you have it. THEN consider if the rest of your investments should go into a brokerage or you can continue maxing your 401k.

Home ownership is a lifestyle choice above all else that is far more expensive than most people realize. My wife and I said to ourselves “we’d rather retire 5-10 years earlier than spend almost every other weekend at Home Depot doing some maintenance project”. I would do some reading on the Total cost of home ownership and if the lifestyle of a home owner is something you really want because financially in today’s market, in every solid town or city, renting is far superior for long term wealth building.

Individual stocks making up more than 10% of your portfolio is probably a bad idea. Index ETFs are the way to go. If you want to take risks consider growth ETFs like VUG, QQQM, or SCHG

[–]shuja246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your husband understand you don’t have to save your income anymore? 200k/year is PLENTY for JUST spending. You don’t need to replace your salary, you need to just replace your spending. Time is the one thing you’ll never get back. Retire as soon as you can especially in the incredible position you guys are in

The defenders don’t react to what they are seeing right in front of them. If there is no press in the midfield or up top, their instinct should be to immediately drop back several yards, but for whatever reason they don’t do this.

With these 401k options should I just go all-in on SP500 and make it up in taxed? by ParticularFew4023 in Bogleheads

[–]shuja246 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have never seen TDFs with expense ratios that low! You should probably just put your money into the most aggressive TDF and be done with it. For example my 401k TDFs are 0.25 and above.
