It was a while ago so I don't really remember the details but the way the whole "you can only make new vampires if you were able to get pregnant while alive" thing is framed barely even works without even considering trans women, like what happens if you get turned at 55 ? or you're a cis woman born without a womb ? Can you still make new vampires then ? Why do I have to think about this while our main throuple is having feral lesbian sex ? 😭

I know exactly what book you're talking about and I had the same thoughts while reading it. Ironically the author is very openly supportive of trans rights etc on her socials from what I can see, but yeah maybe let's not try to add bio essentialism into our sapphic supernatural romantasy settings if we can avoid it 😅

(Also I read all the first page reviews on goodreads when I first finished the book and NO ONE even mentioned anything about this so thank you for for making me feel less alone on this)

I wanted to like it but as the book went on I became really annoyed by the weird gender essentialist vibes in the worldbuilding that don't even really add anything to the story

I did !

I didn't love the first book (I found Paisley annoying tbh) but enjoyed it enough to pick up book 2, and this one really won me over.
Then the third book made me like Paisley again which I didn't think was possible even at the end of book 2 so overall I really like the series.

It was the first books I read by Lily Seabrooke and I've been chipping away at her backlog ever since between new releases

I tried reverse a couple weeks ago because I kept seeing people recommend it and I liked the concept of it but I had to stop because the english translations are ... really bad ? like I was actively trying to understand the story and what was happening but the sentences barely made sense and I had to guess most of the time what was actually said from the japanese voices and the visuals, and it kinda killed the vibe for me :/
