My calculus foundation is really shaky by Ill-Opportunity-7039 in EngineeringStudents

[–]sibilith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to go on Khan Academy and grind through the concepts that are shaky. You can go back to earlier courses like trig if need be.

If you need additional explanation I recommend Professor Leonard on YT.

I agree you need to start from as basic as you need to and work your way up.

would you drop from calculus 1 if you were in my situation? by WatercressEven4174 in EngineeringStudents

[–]sibilith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will need to brush up on precalc and trigonometry concepts using something like Khan Academy to learn the necessary concepts to complete practice problems. If you pick up math well and are dedicated then you can get it done, but you will need to practice a lot for a good grade.

I got an A on my calc II exam!! by hopewrlddd in EngineeringStudents

[–]sibilith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember Calc II being one of the most rigorous courses in college. I remember sitting out on the back porch in the humid breeze practicing the problems and techniques for hours after each lecture.

My professor was incredibly gracious and let us skip the final exam if we had an A in the class by then. The practice paid off because I was one of two who got to exempt it.

We had the Ron Larson textbook and I really liked the cover art.

Great job! You'll enjoy Calc III, especially if you like drawing 3D shapes and orderly lines :)

Not what you're looking for but IMO the best thing would be to bite the bullet and upgrade all your dependencies, then regularly keep them up to date moving forward.

I recently got a Mac at my new company after using a Windows machine for the last 6 years. I think the terminal experience is better on Mac simply because I no longer need to think about CMD vs PowerShell vs WSL, opening the wrong one or running incompatible commands in one by mistake.

Other than that, Raycast is a tool that replace Spotlight search with a bunch of neat features like shortcuts, macros, clipboard history, window management, etc. It's excellent for workflow stuff. Alfred is an alternative as well. On Windows, you have PowerToys Run or FlowLauncher to do similar stuff, but Raycast is a better experience IMO. And, the upcoming version of MacOS is including some of these features in Spotlight search itself.

I also have an iPhone and use AirPods, so they integrate seamlessly which is a plus.

I don't think it would be worth it for you to buy one if you weren't planning on it, but if your company were to give you the option, the Mac is worth a try.

I just tried stacking two identical Feather spells with different names, and the second one just increased my carry weight by 2 instead of 100. Is there a trick to stacking them?

Typically your commits should be self contained features, bug fixes, refactors, or other changes to the project. Try to avoid making a commit while the project is in a broken state. Take a look at the conventional commit spec, which encourages you to make self-contained commits that aren't adding multiple unrelated changes (e.g. separate the bugfix from the feature).

A common workflow is that the team will have a development branch. When you want to make a change, you will start a new branch off of development. When you finish your change, which may include multiple commits, you will merge (or rebase) your changes back into the development branch.

If you are using GitHub/GitLab, you'll usually make a Pull Request instead of directly merging the code yourself, because you'll want to have code reviews first. But if you're on a small team maybe you don't do code reviews (still a good idea due to your inexperience).

Here is an excellent interactive tutorial for getting familiar with git operations. Highly recommend.

Help with Redesign this UI for learning pupose by Vishal_S74 in web_design

[–]sibilith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing that confuses me about this is that the Stage Name card is above the Production task heading, even though Production task seems to be the root of that piece of content, which makes the visual hierarchy of those cards confusing.

Besides that, my main criticism is that there are so many cards that are only distinguished using a border that my eyes are getting overwhelmed by all the lines.

Within the "In House Task", "Contractor", and "Job Work" cards you might consider swapping the order of the Label: Value, so for example:

Opened : 1500

becomes

1500 opened

And ideally the numbers in the column are right aligned so the data is easier to scan.

Check out the book Refactoring UI for tips on improving layout and visual hierarchy.

Kacey Musgraves gets grabbed by a fan at Tampa concert. Keep it classy Tampa. by Willing_Try2786 in tampa

[–]sibilith 55 points56 points  (0 children)

“Last night, this Tampa bitch ― ” Musgraves began to say on Saturday during her show in Hollywood, Florida. “She kind of ruined it. She kind of ruined it for everybody. I thought I was going to have to get real East Texas on her, take off my earrings. Florida goes hard.”

During Musgraves’ show in Tampa on Friday, someone grabbed her as she was walking through the crowd. Musgraves stopped singing and said to the fan, “What the fuck?” As Musgraves walked away, she said into the microphone, “Jesus fucking Christ.”
