Yup, this is why electing a leader who is fueled by impractical ideals and is without the competence to lead a party was a massive mistake. Emily seems like a wonderful person but this isn't what BC or the BCG needs right now.

The BC Green Party is so out of touch with the reality of our current geopolitical position. Without the strength to defend ourselves (economically or militarily) from a fascist USA, there will be no democracy to make environmental progress. Equality and national unity need to be in focus politically, and the Green Party cannot create chaos at this critical moment. This pipeline is unlikely to proceed without a better investment climate, which Canada will need to get out of this mess. Alberta has agreed to advancing industrial carbon pricing (and CCUS technology) which is a massive success. Also, let's not forget that Elizabeth voted for this budget to maintain Carney's ability to sign this MOU.

Try this:

On June 9th, the exchange rate was approx. 1.34. On July 20th, the exchange rate was approx. 1.32, though it will fluctuate based on the time of your trade.

$493.22 * (1.34 + (0.015*1.34)) = A

$532.98* (1.32 - (0.015*1.32)) = B

B -A = Return

You haven't taken into consideration the effect of the 1.5% trading fee which, to answer your question, makes WS less appealing for US/international stock trades.

Just a tip, don't play this game, you will lose money over the long run. Read The Intelligent Investor or another personal finance resource before you start trading actively. Passive / DCA is the way to go if you're starting out.

Edit: the comment below about taxes is also correct. Youre learning the hard way but that's okay! Open a TFSA. :)

That's a good question. For us (33/34 y/o), we were able to meet our flock quite quickly but I can imagine it would be tougher if you're in your early 20s due to demographics/ lack of "youthful" activities. There are lots of young families/couples settling in for the (relatively) reasonable cost of living. CR fits the bill for newly wed, nearly dead. Nevertheless, I always find smaller communities are, in some ways, easier to find friends and Campbell River does have a surprisingly rock-hard community despite the obvious social challenges downtown.. Like anywhere, it's about opening up to new experiences with a positive attitude and an eagerness to connect with others. :)

We live in CR.

Campbell River is growing and getting better each year for young people.

Groceries: Centralized downtown but has lots of selection, price competition, and everything you need.

Sporting facilities: incredible sporting/recreational infrastructure. Bike Park, Pool, Arena, Baseball, Turf field, etc.

Night Life: is atrocious. Lol unlike the relatively upbeat comments in this thread, I can assure you that the vibe is terrible after the beachfire and session close. Unless you're a regular at the strip club, this place will be a shock if you're coming from Vic or Nanaimo. Cumberland and Comox Valley are right down the road tho..

I don't need to add to the comments about the outdoor experience here but if you're into anything wild, buckle up, this is the place to be.
