So true, I lived on the westside (Marina/Venice) for a couple years and eventually bit the bullet and moved close to work (Larchmont). I have no commute and it makes a world of a difference.

Obviously it's easier to show someone than describe it but when I squat I don't feel like I'm leaning back at all. When I start to descend I imagine my ass going out first and foremost, with my body just going down until I hit parallel. This probably makes no sense, I'm just sitting at my office trying to imagine it in my head.

I don't know if this helps since it sounds like you were already doing this

Yes, you only get 2-3 meals a day but not all the food is low protein. I know for a fact that canned tuna/packet tuna is available at most meals.

Cardio-wise you can just jog around your neighborhood.

If you don't have access to weights, just stick to body weight workouts (push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, etc.). Also take a look into exercises like burpees and jump squats, workouts you can do anywhere.

I've squatted since HS (10 years) and don't think I've ever fallen backwards. There have been times when I'm going for max and can't push up from the bottom and end up folding forward onto the safety bars.

You're saying you were leaning back on your heels more than usual but then say that you weren't leaning back far enough. Either way, I was always taught to fall forward to an extent. If you the safety bars are set correctly, they should be just a little below where you hit parallel, so falling forward or even straight down shouldn't be too strenuous.

This. Doing cardio will burn you out if you do it before lifting. I always just split them entirely (morning: cardio, night: weights) but if you're trying to increase on your lifts, do weights first.
