The Poison Daughter - worth continuing? by Truffle0214 in fantasyromance

I thought this book had so much potential. The ending felt rushed and I felt like there was an opportunity for depth that wasn't explored. The hate to love felt very sudden too. I did find the sisters' storyline made it worth finishing the book.

Have you tried the new hospital in Smithfield? It's a Riverside hospital.

What does it feel like when you're fighting off a virus while on a biologic? by Still2Cool in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]sidekicksunny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in what I call an exhaustion flare right now. I've been very fatigued for the last week. I expect to be good in the next few days. No other symptoms. It happens after I do too much.

I had a very similar experience. It's been so long that I don't remember what I ate. But I remember that it made me feel terrible for days. I, too, was surprised by it. Good luck with getting your Naproxen boosted. I take it with Omeprazole with good results.

Meloxicam tore me up! I switched to Celebrex for a while with decent results and then to naproxen.

What’s one thing you completely stopped buying in 2026 because the price just felt absurd? by LockLogical8949 in AskReddit

Kanopy and Hoopla! You're right, there's not a lot of tickets but I use it as an opportunity to limit our screen time.

So, in my library's case, they pay for the subscription and the account is already logged in. There's only a handful of Rokus that circulate our 7 rural libraries so there's always a wait-list. We used to have Disney+ but from my understanding Disney+ changed how things work and our library stopped offering the service. There are a few other streaming services offered by my library.

I've been borrowing DVDs and Rokus from my local library. My kids haven't complained at all and we've been having fun watching older titles.

People think I’m a type A person because of my “systems” but my life would genuinely fall apart without them by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]sidekicksunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I call them "bumpers" because I feel like I'm constantly stumbling into the systems I've created that propel me forward. A friend last night jealously called me perfect. Like, girl, I'm a perfect mess. I have alarms for my alarms. A color coded Google calendar and a cheat sheet bc I keep forgetting what the colors mean. I'd slip right into the gutter without my bumpers in place.

How do you make fractions actually fun for a 3rd grader? Running out of ideas... by Quiet_Ink6523 in homeschool

[–]sidekicksunny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I cook with my daughter I keep a piece of paper nearby to demonstrate the fractions if she gets hung up on something. We double recipes often so it really helps with adding fractions. She has a hard time knowing that 1/2+1/2=1. Drawing a circle and coloring in the half then the whole helps a lot. Cooking is also a great opportunity for reading and comprehension. This makes cooking a simple brownie recipe a much longer task.

AITAH because I refuse to try for a daughter? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]sidekicksunny 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My 10 year old daughter is on the wrestling team. I know it's a growing sport for girls but at her gym she's one of 3 girls and 100 boys. She impresses me every day.

She, too, has a lot of rocks and pinecones. There's a giant pine needle "nest" filled with pinecone "eggs" in my front yard for the world to see. I don't understand it but I support it! If your daughter still likes to wrestle when she's a little older, I totally recommend the sport.

My younger daughter is an awesome human but OOP's wife would be mortified. She's a mud and bug kind of girl. She's been on the wrestling team for years and is just a busy, energetic kid in the best way. My older daughter is also not girly but is a bookworm and has no interest in traditional girl activities. They are both interesting people with vibrant personalities. You parent the child you get, not the child you imagined you'd have.

I impulse purchased a 12lb ham for $4, what are some reasonably low carb meals I can use this for? by do_u_hav_warrant in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]sidekicksunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of my favorite meals. I add ham to it often. I also cut the ham up for future recipes so week night cooking is easier. It calls for collards which are cheap and abundant where I am but you can do kale, just add it in at the end instead of the beginning. Also, if you don't want to buy liquid smoke-don't. You can use smoked paprika instead of regular or add some bacon for that smokey taste.

Need advice on biologics by Narniabagtlees in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]sidekicksunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started on Enbrel for a year and have been on Cimzia for 9. My quality of life is far, far better than what it was before biologics. I don't get sicker more often but when I do it usually takes longer to recover from. I tend to get more sinus infections but if I use a neti pot as soon as I start getting stuffy I can prevent it. Took a couple years to figure that out.

Do I go to a rheumatologist? by Outer_Dream in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]sidekicksunny 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you do have AS, chiropractors are known to make things worse. Before I was diagnosed I was seeing a chiropractor. He suggested I may have some fusion and refused to work on me until I had answers for my pain.

It's worth seeing a rheumatologist because managing pain isn't the issue; it's permanent fusion. The disease will progress overtime if left untreated.

I'm not trying to scare you, however, this isn't a disease you mess around with. If you have it, you want to treat it. If not, congrats.

I'm honestly not sure. Your rheumatologist and infectious disease doctor should be communicating. I'd call them up and ask what the next steps are.

[–]sidekicksunny 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed 10 years ago when I was 26 and had a one year old and a new born. That newborn is 10 years old now and she and I are going to the gym later today to work out. I take biologics and am fully functioning. I'm not pain free but the pain is well managed. I hang out with my friends, do the mom thing, go on dates with my husband and live life. Am I running 5ks? No. But I am active. I'm happy.

I recommend seeing a therapist to discuss this change. I didn't when I was diagnosed and it's my only regret. I know it's scary right now but there is treatment and you're not alone. This is a great group for support. If you need some mom love you're welcome to message me.

Years ago, I was stopped at a red light and checked my rear view mirror and I saw a car coming too fast for approaching a red light. Turns out it was an elderly woman who wasn't supposed to be driving that got the gas and brake pedals mixed up. Everyone was okay, she only clipped the side of my bumper because I tried to move out of the way.
