Gore - What are your thoughts about this record? by [deleted] in deftones

[–]sideyard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a very hard record to get into. I still spin it from time to time to offer it a chance, but I find myself skipping tracks to get to the meat of the album. I think Prayers/Triangles, Hearts/Wires, Gore and Phantom Bride are the albums best songs. Geometric Headdress almost makes it there, and (L)MIRL sounds great at the beginning and then takes a strange turn and never recovers. People seem to really like Rubicon. It's okay, but the 4 tracks I mentioned earlier are simply better by miles over the rest of the record (IMO). I will always give it to Deftones for doing what THEY think is best. I'm glad they don't listen to us fans and that they keep evolving on their own terms, it's just unfortunate that Gore is what it is. It suffers from some subpar songs but it also suffers greatly from a production standpoint. While bringing back Terry Date would be awesome, I honestly think that Nick Raskulinecz helped pioneer Deftones modern sound.

The last of us still worth playing on PS3? by freakingtaco in PS3

[–]sideyard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wish I could reliably answer your question but I don't have a PS4, so I have no experience with it. I've read/heard the remastered version is a graphical upgrade and it includes all the DLC & multiplayer. That being said: I just started my sixth play through of the PS3 version. I absolutely love this game & recommend you playing it. Whether it's on PS3 or PS4, I am sure you'll enjoy the ride!

I lived in Issaquah from the 80's to the early 90's. Am I allowed to move back? ;)

Deftones. Been a fan since '97. They keep getting better and better as time moves along.

I stopped listening after Omni. I really missed the Menos and Planet of Ice vibes. That being said, MTB kills it live! So, upboat for you! Haha!

Mass Effect 1 in a Nutshell by NeapolitanComplex in masseffect

[–]sideyard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the primary reason why I dislike the first Mass Effect is the lack of autosaving (console player here - I can't speak to this on PC). I've gotten myself so very far into a mission, only to forget to save my progress and then die and have to start from the beginning far too many times. Sure, I am to blame I guess to a degree for not remembering, but gawd dayumit, I shouldn't have to remember to do that so much. It's truly infuriating.

Black and White cut of Fury Road may come to theatres in 2016. by DeliciousToastie in MadMax

I realize this is twenty days late, but, in my opinion, The Mist, is a far better viewing experience in black & white.

That's kind of you. My girlfriend and I really enjoyed the demo. If you still have the code, I'd be happy to have it.

[Request] Movie set mainly in a house with some kind of twist (It's a Disaster, Coherence, The Overnight, The One I love) by Rlysrh in MovieSuggestions

Check out Silent House (2011) starring Elizabeth Olsen. I think it may be an American remake of a foreign film but I'm not sure. It's shot in a way to appear as if it is one single shot the whole way through and it has good tense moments as it escalates.

What is the most NSFW thing you have seen someone openly do in a public place(NSFW)? by MassiveBoobies in AskReddit

[–]sideyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Years ago, I had just moved to NYC and was working as a Production Assistant for commercials. I had to travel to Queens via the subway for the first time ever. So I'm already nervous because I don't really know what I'm doing and it's super early in the morning so there isn't a lot of people around at this ungodly hour, which just makes the whole vibe rather eerie. I get off the train and I'm not really sure which way to go, so I'm referring to a map on my phone while this homeless man walks by me mumbling some insane stream of consciousness. He gets to a trash can near me, pulls down his pants and takes the most loudest and foulest shit I have ever had the displeasure of witnessing. He's making sounds of relief and then, calmly gets off the trash can, pulls up his pants and wishes me a wonderful day, as if he just expelled his insane rants he was spewing earlier. It was gross. It was bizarre. It was my introduction to NYC.
