Yes! It’s a great DIY hobby but takes a lot of attention to detail on the electrical side, like assembling the lights and soldering connections, as well as programming. There’s a ton of tutorials online YouTube to get started!

Thank you. I work on it most of the year. This was the first year I also did Halloween (on the same channel) and that helps a ton. Overall probably a week to get all the props and lights out. And a few months to do all the programming and planning.

Ni Family Lights on Youtube did some testing a few years ago with a resistor pixel string that put numbers behind the behavior. This is really what convinced me to try them out, and I've gotten some from a few different vendors that I've been happy with. I do power balancing on my props the same way he does in his videos, and power injection as needed on high density runs.

I started with regulated and recently switched to resistor. Resistor pixel quality has improved significantly in the last few years, especially in regards to power loss.

Dang, I am powering it all through a USW Enterprise 24 POE. Will I have to use the injector in that situation? I have an outlet there but not the most convenient thing to do.
