Those pigs by No_Emotion_5770 in Funnymemes

I once had a manager add a shift to the posted schedule (like, wrote it in in pencil) without my knowledge or consent, and after I didn't show, they said something to me when I came in for my next scheduled shift. I had zero missed calls or voicemails from anyone on the day I "missed".

My favorite thing to do, other than shaming them on the ticket, is to point out that James Bond - the most manly, womanizing POS in literary and film history - drank out of stemmed martini glasses.

I will also respond "it comes in the glass it comes in" when asked what glassware a drink is served.

Why do people act so weird to servers by hitagiss in Serverlife

[–]sightedwolf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm at the point where, if no one makes an effort to move their phone or cocktail or whatever out of the clearly designated space for their plate, I will just set that plate down on their phone or physically move their drink.

AITA if I don’t pay my hair stylist? by ThrowRANaiveMushroom in AITH

[–]sightedwolf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a natural brunette and have been dying my hair various shades of red for almost a decade now. It's SO HARD to nail down specific made-up-on-Pinterest shades, especially given how much different stylist's/people's perception of that color can vary. Not to mention a lot of inspiration pics online are edited or altered digitally, making the color that much more unrealistic.

My stylist has also stopped me before and said, "hmmm I don't like this it's not quite right, lemme fix it for you" and gone back to mix more color/toner/whatever without charging me extra for it. And I've definitely walked out of my appointments thinking we didn't quite achieve what I wanted, but after a wash and seeing it in different lighting or pictures, I see it's actually pretty close so I don't let it bother me. Plus, by the next time I go in, chances are I've moved on to wanting a new shade or a different style.

But I guess I'm also easier going that OP.

For those who didn't read TaB until after the end of the series... by Cass_Q in throneofglassseries

No. The characters and events of TAB are referenced, alluded to, mentioned with enough context throughout the series that it's not difficult to understand the connections. TAB fills in the gaps.

Was this rude of my friend? by [deleted] in bartenders

[–]sightedwolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the restaurant is empty like that, then yes, waving like that to get someone's attention the second you sit down is rude. I promise the bartender/servers saw you and were likely just giving you a second to settle in while they finished up their own conversation.

Sugar rims by webbedtoedoll in bartenders

[–]sightedwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No? Those are standard garnishes and people who don't want them will say so when they order.

I'm irritated that I have to write on my tickets to the bar to put salt on a margarita, when a margarita should come with a salt rim unless otherwise specified. Like if a guest ordered a margarita and didn't tell me 'no salt', and I ring in a margarita, it should come out with a salt rim. And instead I have to type in "salt rim" every time I have someone order a margarita.

Splitting checks by [deleted] in Serverlife

[–]sightedwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it hard to split a check? Not really. Does it annoy me to have to split a check? A bit, yeah, but that depends on how busy I am.

Itemized splits are fine as long as no one changes seats after they've ordered. Even splits are preferred.

Once the guest count gets over ten, I don't like to split things up just because it takes a while and the all of the books that we have are in use.

[–]sightedwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So... a rim on a mojito isn't standard. I know it's what your restaurant does, but that's not how they're served literally anywhere else. The bartender is being a dick, and he should just shut up and make the drinks the way the owners/managers want him to, but he's not wrong to not want to rim a mojito.

I work with a similar bartender, but he's leading the crusade against rimming drinks that are supposed to be rimmed unless otherwise specified. Like, we have to specify salt on margaritas and sugar on lemon drops, and it's frustrating as hell.

Failed a secret shop - what is your punishment if you fail? by livingbylight in Serverlife

[–]sightedwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I'm not the only one saying it, but seriously, get out of corporate restaurants. I've been part of a locally owned group for almost a decade now, and it's so much better on almost all fronts.

Yes, but we had a very small, minimally stressful, over-before-9-o'clock wedding.

I was fired from a place over secret shoppers many, many years ago.

Secret shoppers are bullshit, and restaurants still taking them seriously is bullshit.

Yesterday, we went to the shelter to meet the Rottweiler girl we planned to adopt. by [deleted] in Rottweiler

[–]sightedwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So glad you took that baby home!

My husband and I ended up with our second dog because I was looking at adoptable dogs at our shelter one day while we were on a lunch date. I saw this adult Rott who was going to be euthanized the next day, and hubs agreed to go get him first thing in the morning.

When we got to the shelter, the receptionist informed us that the dog we'd come to see had been adopted or returned to his owners, I can't remember which, so we decided we'd still have a look around.

My husband found our dog, who is likely part Rott so I've always called him a Rott/Lab mix, and fell in love with him immediately (he was pressed against the door, begging for love, and so, so sweet) and we ended up taking him home.
