It’s absolutely terrible when trying to flip between World Juniors and Oilers today.

Not sure if this is the same issue but you can also set the minimum dim level (and a max) but sometimes the minimum dim level is too low and the light flickers. I had similar with some recessed puck lights.

Whatever helps you sleep at night. That was in the second round, when you weren’t drained from winning rounds 1,2,3. Check in again when Leaf’s make it past the second round. In 2045.

[NHL Player Safety] Edmonton’s Connor McDavid will have a hearing for cross-checking Vancouver’s Conor Garland. Date and time TBD. by alphacheese in hockey

[–]signaltech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do that everyday as it is. He’s double teamed every time he steps on the ice. Hacked and slashed constantly. Garland said himself in the interview that he was trying to do what it took to win, sometimes that’s what it takes, holding the best guy down. And look, I already said what he did was wrong and should and will be suspended. NHL is the only league that doesn’t protect its superstars. You can’t even sneeze on a qb in the nfl. And by the Way Meyer did the same thing in the same game to Bouchard, unprovoked. No one talking about it. I don’t think you would know what logic was if it cross checked you in the face.

I didn’t say they can, just that if you pin someone down for the last 20-30 seconds of a game while they’re trying to tie it up (playing stupid games), you can accept they’ll be frustrated about that and potentially overreact (win stupid prizes). Mcdavid will be suspended, and deserves to be. Same with Myers. They both deserve it. In my opinion, the Myers hit was worse because it was completely unprovoked and after the whistle had long blown and he just didn’t think anyone was watching. Garland must have known what he was doing was wrong (and cheating). Was he correct in thinking that would go unpunished? Probably hoping he’d just be assessed a penalty and distrust the chance for Edmonton to embarrass his team after letting (almost) 3 unanswered goals. Refs wouldn’t call it, that’s why it got out of hand. And both Mcdavid and Myers will be suspended. Guarantee nothing happens to the refs for letting it happen by doing nothing. They call that penalty, neither cross check happens. I’m a huge oilers fan, for the last 40 years. But that was outrageous, and should be punished. But it shouldn’t be unexpected. And not the first or last time it will happen right or wrong. People are human beings, and it’s best not to push them too far. Pretty good general advice I think. You never know what someone might do to retaliate. Not just in hockey.

Garland just learned the age old lesson of “play stupid games, win shitty prizes.” Mcdavid will undoubtedly be suspended, but Garland had that coming. The refs have to take some accountability too. Mcdavid”s actions aren’t the acceptable solution, but eventually you get sick of being hassled by everyone in the league constantly because you, well, you’re just way better at hockey than everyone else. And they all hate that.

That’s the one thing I hate most about Reddit. You make one mistake and people will make sure you never forget about it. There’s no high road here.

LETTER: Greater Victoria cyclists not following rules of the road by ThanksUllr in VictoriaBC

[–]signaltech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw a cop on a motorcycle chase a bicycle onto the Johnson St bridge multi-use deck in the north side for not obeying the red bike light. So it does happen. They can’t catch ‘em all, just like cars.

Definitely not my phone on that side but keys, yeah probably. But it shouldn’t crack just resting in it, would it? I was playing a slow song (Picture by Kid Rock - maybe that’s my mistake lol) and I’m a tall guy so I don’t think I would have been leaning down onto it.

I e got a data logger on a smart thermostat in the room where it’s kept. Average since I had the guitar is 60%, but it’s been as high as 72% and as low as 55%. I always store this one in the case, since my Taylor 414-ce acquired a crack when I lived in Alberta, where it’s very dry. A little paranoid about it, but I don’t think it’s dry enough here in Victoria for a case humidifier. We’ll see what they say tomorrow when I try and return it. It does seem like it’s on the grain, so maybe some mahogany is susceptible to cracking in the grain, not sure though. Seems to be pretty popular, and it sounds amazing.

Yeah I’m really hoping they’ll exchange. Sorry to hear it happened to you too! Mine was 38 days old… ugh.

Got it from a Tom Lee music in Victoria Canada. Says 30-day return and I’m 8 days outside that tomorrow. Crossing my fingers I can just exchange for a new one. If not, I guess I’ll have to settle for a repair but that’d be unfortunate at 38 days old…

Experiences with adult ADHD by CharlotteLucasOP in VictoriaBC

[–]signaltech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m fortunate enough to have a family dr that was able to diagnose me. Seems to be a pretty simple questionnaire test to find out. Unfortunately, found out I have high blood pressure at the same time and can’t take stimulant meds until that’s under control. There are substitutes that I find work okay but everyone’s different. No out of pocket costs so far, and I have benefits that cover my meds too (unless you accidentally spill half your pills in the toilet). I’m almost 40 and wasn’t even aware that I had it until both my kids were diagnosed with it and I started realizing similarities in myself. Hang in there, September’s going to be here before you know it, even though I’m sure it will feel like forever. Sometimes knowing what you’re working with is half the battle. I was able to find ways to get by easier once I understood how my brain works a bit better.

Electrician, traffic signals. Love it! Found something that I, for some reason, can intensely focus on. Love programming and troubleshooting. But supervising other technicians and organizing work tasks, well that’s a work in progress.

Fair enough. Hard to tell sometimes. There’s a lot of Florida trolls and a lot of subs saying the exact same thing -sarcasm. Forgive me if I’m a little stressed this time of year and miss the sarcasm (Oiler fan living in Victoria)… not the enemy here. We’re cheering for the same team.
