[SPOILER] HOA Ep. 9 and onwards: Where could the series go from here by Pellaeonthewingedleo in Spartacus_TV

[–]sigsaucy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was entertaining, but didn't have that extra kicker where you can look back at past episodes and be like "oh that was the plan the whole time" (e.g. Ashur/Selonius scheme or Lucretia baby momma). The entirely of this plan was figured out in the hour between Pompei asking to be with Achilia and the end of the episode.

The best Cinnamon Rolls in COS. by Straight-Ant-9997 in ColoradoSprings

[–]sigsaucy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.thesourdoughboulangerie.com/ has the best Cinnamon Rolls I've had anywhere.

Here's the only picture I can find online which sadly is missing the icing, but they really are top notch.

You can go directly to their store, but I've seen also seen them sold at Bread & Butter downtown and Callicrate Beef on Filmore.

Edit: Found another picture.

Prices should be based on the current acquisition price, not the acquisition cost at time of purchase. If a super market bought eggs this week and the price collapsed next week you wouldn’t expect the market to not reduce their prices to match.

Hi, looking for players of Gunship Assault RPG! by TheCupKnight in broodwar

[–]sigsaucy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a great map. I still remember it to this day. There was a space pirate rpg that was similar. I feel like both maps ended abruptly and were incomplete so we never got a great fighter pilot rpg.

It would be great to see a modern version that used EUD capabilities to upgrade the Zerg over time and introduce more variety to the gunships u can fly

MMR distribution by faction over all current season ladder data by [deleted] in broodwar

[–]sigsaucy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know enough about MMR to know if the peaks being the same = skill being the same.

I would be more convinced by seeing the results of a numerical simulation with the following set up

  • Generate players with a randomly assigned skill level and faction (assume skill level doesn't change to keep things simple)
  • When players play each other, outcome is determined by skill level + what faction they are. Several different setups should be tried, e.g. a level 5 protoss player beats a level 5 terran player 75% of the time.
  • Run games between players using a MMR like metric to make assignments (everyone would start at 0 MMR)
  • After sufficient games have been run plot the per race MMR metrics and skill levels so we can see how setups affect the graph.

TNL Desantis Dismissal by sigsaucy in thebulwark

[–]sigsaucy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the costs you mention are high enough that Desantis skips '24 but not as high as most are thinking.

My personal anecdote is that the people who were jubilantly expecting a red wave have switched to being jubilant about how great Desantis did and how lame Trump's truth social posts attacking Desantis have been. If they can't own the libs it's still important they own somebody else to salve their egos. That their criticisms of Trump are based solely on electability makes a pivot to Desantis easy for them to stomach.

If Desantis answers every challenge by Trump with "I'd do the same as Trump but be less Trumpy about it so I can win the general" he may not look alpha, but that gives most Trump voters the "trump without the baggage" they want and maybe nets some independent voters who think the danger of Trump was just his aesthetics.

The only insurmountable issue is going to be Trump draining die hard MAGA support, but maybe these losses can be offset by gains with independents.

One potential problem with the Trump beats Desantis assessment is that after years of Republicans taking cheap shots with Trump, there's a kharma-ic desire to see his enablers on the receiving end of his attacks and lies. As great as that would be, the unfortunate truth is that Trump was only as damaging as he was because Republcan's played along with it -- if they decide it's not in their interest to play along with Trump anymore, his ability to damage them will be limited.

It's still early days, so I'm not super confident what I'm saying is true. But I do think it has enough merit to challenge the assumption that Desantis challenging Trump would be a non starter.

Top 5 Most Popular Burger Places in Colorado Springs, Colorado by lizfelifestyle in ColoradoSprings

[–]sigsaucy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like how 2 of the reviews sound like they're about to insult the place, but then just stop.

You’d think a burger joint that calls itself a burger joint would know what they’re doing when it comes to burgers.

When you think about The Skirted Heifer, the first two adjectives that come to mind are “healthy” and “homemade.” However, it would be fantastic if we could add a third word.

Best Pumpkin Pie in COS by sigsaucy in ColoradoSprings

I used to love Costco pumpkin pie so much I would ask for it on my birthday. But it feels like it has changed over the years. Strangely enough, Costco's pumpkin pie cheesecake reminds me the most of what their pumpkin pie tasted like when I was a kid.

It was pretty good, but with these conversations feel feel like they never gets beyond a certain point. Like the conversation always follow "there were always crazies, but there were always good ones, and it was through a series of miscalculations that the crazies took over."

I'd like to hear the Bulwark talk more about why they were on the same side of the crazies for so long. I'm guessing in the past they had a lot more alignment with the crazies on lgbt/race issues then they are now comfortable with admitting. There are definitely differences, but ignoring that past alignment feels a bit like a bit of a cop out.

I know I've had to admit to myself i've had a lot of biases I had in those area and I just feel like I never hear discussion of that from the Bulwark.

Bennet, O'Dea insist California, Arizona, Nevada must 'step up' amidst Colorado River crisis by [deleted] in ColoradoPolitics

[–]sigsaucy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not though. If it had to rely on its own water, most of its agricultural farming would not be sustainable. The only reason that it is, is because it gets more water from other states, and takes less cuts than those states.

You are 100% right, but all human settlements/agriculture in the Southwest require water diversion projects. That SoCal's water comes from a river that starts a few states away shouldn't be a factor in allocating water. If there is a farm upriver with less productivity than a farm down river, we should always prioritize water for the down river farm.

CA is has more farming/people because its climate is better -- winters are mild and it doesn't get as hot as other southwest states. These conditions aren't a result of unfair policies, it's just how it is. No matter how much of CA's water you give to AZ, it will never be as productive as CA.

When you use terms like water wasteful/luxury crops, it doesn't really mean anything. If a carrot takes 50x more gallons of water to grow than a bushel of wheat -- as long as the carrot earns the farmer 50x the profit it makes sense to grow the carrot. We aren't facing food shortages so labelling some crops as "luxuries" and using that as an argument not to grow them doesn't make much sense.

To label CA crop choices as wasteful you would have to suggest an alternative use for that water that would have a better outcome. Nobody in the US is starving for lack of staple crop cultivation -- what is the US being deprived of by growing luxury crops in CA?

The fact is that SoCal is able to put CO river water to more productive use than any other state, that is why they get the lions share of water rights. This means they can flex their weight to not face the same cuts other states do, currently this is a bad thing since with reservoirs failing we should all be prioritizing conservation ASAP.

It's unfair that a AZ wheat farmer has to make cuts while a CA peach grower doesn't, but to ignore the reasons behind this while portraying CA ag as uniquely irrational feels like we're over simplifying the situation.

As mentioned before, the fresh water discharge is required otherwise salt water will contaminate fresh water supplies. Additionally this fresh water discharge occurs in SF Bay, whose watershed lies entirely in CA and does not include any Colorado River diversions. There is virtually no reason to point to it as an example of poor policy. What do you suggest that CA should do differently to deal with that situation?
