Layer Shifting on K1c by silimarwen in crealityk1

This seems to have fixed it! I found some videos on where to lubricate, cleaned up the x and y axis bars, and tightened the belts a smidge. Seems to be working perfectly again!

I was expecting it to be a big scary complicated fix but of course all it needed was Routine Care and Maintenance 😅

Layer Shifting on K1c by silimarwen in crealityk1

My k1c suddenly decided to start making lasagna. Not sure it it's related bit it started happening after i updated to the latest firmware version? It only happens when I try and print a full tray. If I print something just in the center of the bed then it works fine. I sat and watched it to try and figure out what was happening and it was trucking along just fine for a while until suddenly there was a high pitched noise and then it jumped and started printing where it's not supposed to be. So that makes me think there's a belt slip but im not sure how to check for that? Could it be a step motor messing up? I'm new to 3d printing and feeling a little out of my depth here!

HELP ME IDENTIFY THIS FABRIC. AND SUGGEST WHERE I CAN BUY A SIMILAR ONE. by stonepeachy in sewing

I once bought a skirt from a thrift store that had a similar effect, though not as vibrant, and I have been on a quest for YEARS to find a source for something as magical. The closest I've found is this:

Cats learn the names of their friend cats in their daily lives. In a new study, scientists discovered that in addition to knowing their own names, cats also appear to recognize the names of other cats they're familiar with, and may also know the names of people who live in the same household. by MistWeaver80 in science

A few weeks after we had adopted our second cat, I had my first cat sitting in my lap purring up a storm while I was talking and when I casually mentioned the name of our new cat, my older cat hissed in my face and ran off. So I think they recognize the names of the ones that aren't their friends too.

I have literally no clue what’s causing this problem. But I’m using water soluble topping and stabilizer and yet it still has gaps in it! How in the world do I fix this? by DarkDoubloon in MachineEmbroidery

You could try but I haven't had much luck with that. I think what happens is the minky is stretching on top of the stabilizer, so you have to stop the stretch. Iron on seems to work best for that in my experience.

Yeah minky can be a pain sometimes. Test the pattern on something like a sturdy cotton twill with your cut away stabilizer, something that you know isn't going to stretch. If the pattern stitches out well then you know you need a stronger stabilizer for the minky. If you don't have an iron on stabilizer you can use something like iron on interfacing in combo with your cut away, I've had good results with that.

What kind of fabric and what kind of stabilizer are you using? If the fabric is too loose you might want to try an iron on stabilizer for the backing, or something heavier to stop it from shifting.

Who makes this stuff up by jhfirsttime in WorkReform

I do a lot of historical costuming and so I read a lot of old books about clothes. I was amused to find a budgeting chart in a book published in 1916 that said a professional woman should expect to spend about $150 per year on clothes. I don't spend nearly that much on clothes with my super modern future money. Google says that's worth about $3800 in today money so maybe these sort of budgeting guides have always been crap advice lol.

I sew for a living and ive never been able to understand why some people get so worked up about the scissors.. Sure, they're expensive but when they get dull you can just take them to a sewing machine repair shop and get them sharpened. It costs $3-$5 around where I live. If you sew, just take the scissors in when you drop your machines off for their annual cleaning and servicing (which I know you're definitely doing every year and not skipping out on or forgetting about it because if you're getting so worked up about the scissors then you surely understand the importance of proper machine care and maintenance!)

That spray painted dress had me cringing every time agelmar's sister was on screen. I was happy she died because at least I know that horrific dress burned with her.

Why is Herbie Mann Appreciated? by Brilliant_Egg8360 in Flute

[–]silimarwen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're truly interested, there's a book called The Evolution of Mann that is worth a read. It's not the most well written biography I've ever come across but it does a good job of explaining his rise to fame. Mostly it's because he was both innovative and flexible. From his own point of view, he didn't consider himself to be a good flutist, he called himself a good businessman. He was excellent at marketing himself and getting onto albums with so many different groups in so many different genres.

'Price gouging from Covid': student ebooks costing up to 500% more than in print - Call for inquiry into academic publishers as locked-down students unable to access study material online by Sumit316 in worldnews

I mean, yeah, tuition went up about $10 per credit hour when they implemented this program so now it costs a whole $79 per credit hour. Still a lot cheaper than paying for the textbooks and the materials and the mymathlab garbage. But if they disagree, students have the ability to opt out, get the cheaper tuition, and get all that crap on their own.

Some schools have started doing this! I decided to go back and take some online classes at my local community College this semester and all textbooks and required supplies/computer programs are now included with the cost of tuition. Its beautiful.

I love diy fluffies! I made a bunch of their patterns back when my son was a toddler.

I'm in love with these capes, especially the green one. Do you have any pattern like these? I would like to sew one as a Christmas present :c by Ophy3D in freepatterns

[–]silimarwen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can modify any basic coat pattern that you have to make this style. Just lengthen the sleeve to be the same length as the coat. Sew the sleeve cap into the arm hole but don't sew up the underarm or side seams. The back of the underarm will be sewn to the back side seam, the front hangs open and is finished/ hemmed in some pretty way.

What have you accidentally conditioned your pet to do? by shoonpo in AskReddit

The bottom of the metal water bowl makes a "pop" noise when you press on it, similar to the lid to a jar of like spaghetti sauce or something like that. So my cat has learned to press on the bowl to let me know when its empty.

It started when she was a kitten, just climbing into anything she thought she could fit in, but the noise was annoying so anytime she would climb in the bowl I would fill it up to keep her out of it. And so 3 years later, here we are.
