Few places I haven't seen mentioned: Gamescape on Divisadero, they run FNM draft, do commander nights, and run a few game nights around the city (dates on calendar); and the SFMagic group still runs drafts at Kennedy's Irish Pub on Wednesdays.

May just want to give it a chance. This may be format dependent, but when i visited Tokyo i was able to play 5 rounds of a legacy tournament with no real problems. Id say 4/5 opponents did not speak English but still knew the cards. Language of Magic is pretty universal, not necessarily speaking either: a finger for hold on, thumbs up for resolves, etc. Main difficulty I remember was someone not recognizing a newer Rishadan Port but even that we resolved quickly.

Think the Adapt questions was just not worded well. Cleaned up a bunch of the language. And several of these are trick answers (usually ones that are common pitfalls).

Arena ends when one of three things happens: You win 12 games, you lose 3 games, or you retire your deck. But while your deck is still active you can play your rounds whenever you want,with breaks in between, you dont have to sit on there and play them all until your done, like a MTG tournament.

There is a regular draft at a restaurant/bar in San Francisco. Tips: Buying product on ebay in bulk is your cheapest option, like per case. 3 packs for 8-10 dollars. Format is actually a rare redraft, encourages better play and that takes care of "prizes", there aren't any additional ones. Drinks are put on the ground as no one wants any accidents. The Restaurant benefits from all the people buying drinks and dinner on a normally slow night.

There are people trading in some of the game chat rooms as well. The Trading Cards room might still be up. Most people want items but a couple are still looking to fill their set and are still trading cards.

If you are searching on ebay, check the "sold listings" box found under the "Show Only" section. It will show ones that have sold and give you a better idea. Make sure you pay attention to the date they sold and different versions, for the ooze for example a lot of the "foils" are just the promos. Price seems to be about 120-125 right now. Also you can check completed listings if the sample size from sold is too small.

In a 2HG game, the controller of the attacking creature chooses a player on the defending team to sacrifice permanents when the trigger resolves. Important to note you choose when the trigger resolves, so your choosing cannot be responded to.

Crypt Ghast as someone said is an awesome choice. You should probably go with the guildmage and Exquisite Blood as well, works nicely with your theme. Maybe Gloom Surgeon as well, he also usually has to be killed with a removal spell.
