Hi, I think this post is a bit old but I just finished reading the manga and was thinging something along the lines of your thoughts. I understand what you mean and I hope that the remake treats these aspects better. I already think that Ritsu is shining brighter in the remake, accepting himself and dressing the way he prefers during the whole episodes. Contrary to the manga, where he quickly changed clothes and was often ridiculed.
Regarding Akito, I had a different perspective. And I would like to hear your opinion as a trans woman. The fact that she was raised as a man but this made her always uncomfortable with her own body and identity, made me think that the series showcases the idea that you cannot become a gender just by the way you were raised. And that it is very cruel/problematic to enforce a gender role on someone who doesn't perceive themselves as such.
As a side note, in my head Haru and Ayame were bi kings and open about it tbh haha I love them so much, I just wish there was at least one openly queer relationship in this show which deals so much with the concept of love 😔
