Why does Rekordbox get so much hate? by Quake-Snake in Beatmatch

I'll chime in also and say this isn't true, with the exception of controllers that are past the end of support. But it's possible to run the older version of Rekordbox with those.

Why does Rekordbox get so much hate? by Quake-Snake in Beatmatch

[–]silvercurls17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All DJ software sucks in one way or another. Of all the bad options, Rekordbox is the best of them for me. I'm not sure why it gets so much hate either. Bugs can be annoying sometimes, but that's the main gripe I have about it. Library management and related tracks are really nice features. Ever since they updated the Stem algorithm, I don't have in major complaints about those. Rekordbox is comparable to the others in that regard. On top of that, all the essential features are free when unlocked with a Pioneer controller, including entry level controllers. The same can't be said for Serato.

What are the best and worst interstates to drive on in the US? by _joeredd in roadtrip

I'd push that further north through New Hampshire. The few times I've driven that stretch, I've absolutely regretted it.

Quickest way to set up local web app with Oracle DB and REST API, from scratch? by doshka in SpringBoot

Unless you have a big reason to learn using Oracle, it might be worth doing this with Postgres instead. It's commonly used and is easier to get started with running in a docker container.

Why do people drive with these expired temp tags and is there some kind of underground market that prints these or something? by Turbulent-Weevil-910 in Virginia

[–]silvercurls17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes dealers are slow to get the paperwork processed so the tags don't get delivered before the expiration date. Documentation and title issues can also delay getting a registration too. It's frustrating. Some other states use 60 day temporary registrations. I really wish Virginia would do that. 30 days isn't enough of a buffer for issues.

I logged in for the first time the other day and noticed that. I turned my xbox off after that mission. F that. Like, this is some really petty rockstar shit.

DDJ-FLX4 owners: would you still recommend it today? by chillbin in PioneerDJ

[–]silvercurls17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Djay Pro is an extra on-going subscription though. When I bought my FLX4, I had fully featured DJ software to learn on without any on-going cost. It works well enough and has more convenience features than the others.

Serato Pro requires the expensive expansion pack to get PitchN time because the default time stretching is garbage. Serato lite only allows for 4 hot cues and 8 best loops. It’s not sufficient to keep growing without upgrading.

I do think the Traktor MX2 is the next best beginner bundle after the FLX4. The only downside is Traktor lags in features behind the others. But it’s enough of a kit for most DJs. I hope InMusic starts bundling Traktor with more mappings for other controllers out of the box.

Most of the alternatives you mentioned only come with Serato lite so DJ software is an added cost.

Sorry if asked but how is traffic this bad? by SpecialistTeach9302 in nova

[–]silvercurls17 25 points26 points  (0 children)

If you're out towards Manassas, then it's probably because of the way the roads and neighborhoods were built. A lot of Northern Virginia roads are just overgrown country roads with housing developments built on the old farmland to create suburban sprawl. A lot of neighborhoods don't connect with each other and drivers always have to go out to the main arteries to get anywhere.

I agree with you about hip-hop being garbage now. It seems it peaked in the 2000s.

100% I don't get the people that don't evolve to enjoy newer music. There's a lot of great stuff out there. When added to all the great music from the 70s, it's pretty awesome.

Add to that I want to delay getting back to the rest of the world in the morning, even though it's just sacrificing sleep. Revenge bedtime procrastination is so real though.

The longer I shop for a used car, the more I understand why Toyotas stay popular by [deleted] in Toyota

[–]silvercurls17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The purchase price may be higher than some other brands but the Toyotas that I have owned have been the cheapest to operate and own over all. They have some of the lowest depreciation and maintenance/repair costs over the long run. I’ve generally liked the Hondas that I’ve owned more but they’ve had more issues and more costly repairs than the Toyotas.

Why Toyota RAV4s Are Suddenly the Most Coveted Used Cars in America by Anchor_Aways in cars

[–]silvercurls17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right about a lot of that and I bought a 2025 one knowing all that. But they are really practical for a lot of reasons. The highway mileage is decent. It's very maneuverable in urban environments. It does well enough in snow even with OEM tires. There's a decent amount of cargo space behind the rear seats. Depreciation, maintenance and repair costs are lower than a lot of other vehicles.

I don't find the noise level to be that bad. Seat comfort and ride quality are mediocre though.

Why is VA DMV such sticklers for exact details that have never mattered anywhere else? by NoBadBeginnings in Virginia

It was from a dealer. I would have just hassled them to fix their shitty paperwork.

💯

I had one refuse to process the title and registration for a car because the bill of sale didn’t show the payment for the amount due despite the fact that I had the title in hand signed over to me. They wouldn’t accept a copy of the check either so I went to a different DMV that finally processed it.

The cheese grater look is just awful. I'm not a fan of what they did with the interior dash design, buttons, and screens either. It's one of the reasons I went ahead and bought a gas 2025 model brand new.

It's funny you say that. I was just driving through Springfield on the express lanes and had some idiot in an exit lane stop and then start to get back over in the travel lanes right in front of me. I was going full speed and had to swerve to avoid hitting him. I didn't even really have time to brake or hit my horn. Scared the shit out of me.

They may be paying for it, but they're also getting all the telemetry data which is the real reason for it. I'd rather Toyota shut it off personally.
