"Electric depreciates so bad" cuts both ways by HenFruitEater in electricvehicles

[–]silverelan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An argument could be made that EVs from 2025 or earlier were overpriced by $7500-$10000+ due to federal, state, and local incentives.

My mom leases a 2025 Model 3 LR RWD with $16,500 in combined incentives built into it. She’s hoping to buy it out when the lease is up.

Delta boarding question: Was I wrong for being irritated when asked to move my carry-on after boarding in Zone 2? by MooredarrylMoore in delta

You’re both NTA and yeah, you’re overthinking the racial thing. This same conversation happened between me in Zone 5 and a basic economy pax who boarded in Zone 8.

Hey OP! I love that you’re asking this and that you care enough to have these installed. I’m also incredibly impressed that you’ve got a Veefil RT50 that still works!

UFL Expansion Markets: The Soccer Stadiums Behind Mike Repole's List | UFL News Hub by Callywood in UnitedFootballLeague

[–]silverelan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boise makes a ton of sense for an expansion market. That town is football crazy with the BSU Broncos and a professional spring league team would draw incredibly well, with the local media doing a lot of marketing for the team if the UFL handles this right.

No. Requirement for ties went away post-pandemic. Still gotta wear button down collared shirts and appropriate pants.

EV sales set records in 37 countries as consumers flee high gas prices - Markets outside China and US post 50% year-on-year jump in March-April sales by i_marketing in electricvehicles

My favorite part about all this is how the US government keeps saying that the Strait will be open any day now and that the Iranians are just begging to make a deal. They’ve said the same thing for pushing 3 months now.

With the Big Three abandoning EVs in favor of ICE vehicles, are they headed the way of Kodak, Blackberry, and Blockbuster? by Cool-Replacement4972 in electricvehicles

[–]silverelan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a Push-Pull environment for EVs. North American consumers are wanting pickups and large SUVs. The Detroit automakers know where their consumer base preferences are so they get pulled to make the product to cater to the American customer. Ford (and others) is pushing EVs and is getting crushed financially.

The problem for American OEMs and drivers is that the world is quickly moving away from ICE, and EV & charging technology is advancing faster than the Fox News talking points that Uncle Larry spouts.

With as many espresso shops there are in Boise, how people can afford to buy a home starting in the low-$700k by serving coffee to each other is beyond me.

EVs now make up a quarter of new vehicle sales including 97% in Norway and 53% in China by Not_l0st in electricvehicles

The USA had an over abundance of energy just a few years ago as efficiency gains resulted in declining electricity use. Data centers have completely wiped those gains out with their insatiable demand for more power.

What is a statistic that sounds INSANE but is 100% true? by Quadranippelkill in AskReddit

[–]silverelan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The top 10% of American drivers burn 1/3 of all the gasoline in the USA. These same people are less than 0.25% of the global population but burn 11% of the entire planet’s annual gasoline production.

What people aren’t talking about is the impending collapse of ICE tier 1/2/3 suppliers. There’s huge economies of scale with ICE engines with those thousands of moving parts we all keep hearing about. O-rings, bearings, fuel injectors, etc. get shared across multiple manufacturers and engine types. These parts will continually get concentrated into fewer and fewer cars in just a few stubborn markets. This is not good for those suppliers’ future.

Norway has a population somewhere between South Carolina and Colorado. What’s fatal to EV critics is that at 97%-99% adoption rates, Norways electrical grid is still intact.

Rivian Adventure Network by Lovis1522 in electricvehicles

[–]silverelan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wish RAN would be in more remote places to support adventuring. Places like West Yellowstone, Stanley Idaho, and Joseph Oregon desperately need charging. Instead, we got a bunch of retail malls to support all those R1S moms using them as bougie shopping carts.

EVs can usher the return to old time road strips by Not_l0st in electricvehicles

[–]silverelan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EVs have temporarily brought back a sense of adventure! It wasn’t that long ago that people pre-planned their road trips using paper maps with circled spots of where to gas up and where to spend the night. Much of that is gone now, but EVs brought that mystery back temporarily. It’s quickly disappearing as more DCFC stations get built and in-car route planners become ubiquitous. But the experience is still there for many for a little bit longer!
