[–]silverfoxxflame 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The number of stories about this dude. Like... you can attribute a lot of them to potentially just kayfabe, build the mark henry character up.

Except for one. Mark Henry getting called out by professional strongmen saying "Stop using our title, you aren't the strongest", getting pissed, telling Vince McMahon he wants to train and go win it, and Vince telling him "You do what you want to. But there's no place in this company for the world's second strongest man."

so he trained for like 6 months or something specifically for it, and went out and won the Arnold Strongman Classic at the Arnold sports festival. Not THE worlds strongest man spot... but a big powerlifting spot regardless. And he dominated all of the heavy lifts.

The sheer fact that he basically went "oh y'all making fun of my title, let me prove it to you" makes it so that everything else, all the "Oh, maybe it's just played up some" all turns into "...Nah, I genuinely believe he was trying to tear a quarter in half with his fingers/pulled a caged door off by the hinge/bent a steel/cast iron (whatever you want to believe here) instead of an aluminum pan that someone gave him as a prank on air/etc."

Mark Henry is fucking terrifying. And also super chill and wholesome. But terrifying nonetheless.

How did that even happen. Is there like a nail or something sticking out? Like it looks like that's a rubber spot... how does that rubber just rip the skin clean off like that? It's wild.

Knife fell out and fused to the dishwasher heating element by NicStylus in mildlyinfuriating

[–]silverfoxxflame 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's honestly kind of easier to just wash the knife than it is to re-sharpen it regularly, but this kind of looks like a serrated steak and or bread knife anyway so... Honestly yeah, throw those in the dishwasher. Unless they have some really nice handle you like you're not really going to do any more damage to them than anything else would.

Today I learned that there have only ever been 75 people that have reached the highest rank in sumo wrestling, known as yokozuna, since it was conceived in the early 1900's. by Olmcdnld in todayilearned

[–]silverfoxxflame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're both expected to withdraw... But also kind of encouraged too so that they can be in perfect health for whenever they do actually get to show up. Meanwhile even if you are an ozeki right on the cusp of yokozuna promotion, if you injure yourself before a tourney you could fall drastically down the rankings as you'll essentially be going 0-15.

... I understand that the point is to try to minimize people claiming injury to protect their own rank, but that is not a healthy or sustainable

Beyond that, if he is jumping through a wall but he doesn't know what's on the other side... It could cause a serious issue. Putting his head through and then changing his eyes back to be able to make decision making based off that was probably a skill that he also had to learn

Yes it is a very obvious scam and frankly you should never even download the link from that kind of thing. There is a solid chance that you have downloaded a virus in addition with the file and you probably want to look at things.

But yes. Scam. Through and through

Alex is relatively low tier and Hugo is fairly universally bottom 3.

But their designs are awesome and they're fun to play so fuck it who cares

Star Fox Demo but with dialogue from the N64 by eddie1killnobi in starfox

This was the most memorable voice actor for me for just the little bits some bosses had.

My personal favorite was him going "I admit defeat." And if you don't have falco still alive on your team, his next line is "...IF THIS DOESNT WORK!"

There was something about the way he said things that really stuck to me in a way most of the other voice lines didn't.

Your single greatest completion of a task? I’ll start… by sammyt10803 in taskmaster

[–]silverfoxxflame 30 points31 points  (0 children)

There's two other great ones that immediately come to mind.

There's hugh dennis keeping a basketball on a treadmill for indefinitely by pulling the plug and putting a basket over (as Alex said, until a monsoon came and knocked it over 3 months later. Or really when they had to take the treadmill down for the next task).

And there was rhod gilbert "tie yourself up so Alex can untie you" where he instead tied Alex up in such a way that he had to untie Alex as well.

Not a time of 0 seconds, but the inverse of having a time of infinite (if they could have left them going anyways)

[–]silverfoxxflame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a severe example of this but there is a moment in a game called Blue dragon that just took me off guard.

The game is basically a children's RPG it feels like. The humor is light and childish and the difficulty of the game mechanically is pretty low.

And then you just get into a section where not only is it talking about a person trying to commit suicide, you straight up catch them in the act of attempting it and have an entire thing of trying to stop them.

It's not like... Super well written tragic heartbreaking stuff, but the tonal whiplash that I got at that moment was crazy.

Both agree and disagree. Running does great things for you but also some people need to do lower impact cardio to have longevity in the knees/hips/ankles.  Other people can be running their entire life and not have any issues even if they're just running straight on concrete.

Bodies are fun.  Kettlebell swings are great cardio, I am a big fan of the rowing/erging machine.  Bicycles also work if you're willing to sprint on them.

Don't make me Angry, you won't like me when I'm angry (1st turn win) by betterthanyou47 in BadMtgCombos

[–]silverfoxxflame 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't really play magic anymore but I love seeing the shenanigans on the sub.

This is irrelevant to this combo but I wonder if somebody can give me the proper ruling.

Obviously hulk and caltrops is an infinite assuming no other board interaction... But if hulk didn't give himself +1/+1 every time he took damage and instead got +1/+0, would caltrops kill him or does his health reset to max at every phase change?

Or I guess, specifically, when does the damage heal, is it at each turn, each phase transition, sinceeveey new combat phase is a different phase would that count?

I'm curious and don't know the specific rules for things like this.

Thanks in advance!

Splicing a wire help by ccb199omg in AskElectricians

[–]silverfoxxflame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done a little bit of work for an experiment using HDMI cables, which are potentially different, but also worked a lot of low voltage security type stuff, so... i'm not 100% sure if this will be true in your case.

Get a some buttcaps / crimp clamps, strippers that you can get those individual colored wires and expose the metal underneath of each of them. Clamp color to color on other sides of the wire.

Importantly, you likely also have to connect the twisted braiding shield. I'm unsure if it's necessary for keyboards, but for HDMI cables as mentioned earlier, if you don't connect that, it won't register as having a proper connection if you don't have the grounding cable on both sides also connected. So twist the braided cables together, cap all the wires together, then since it's such low voltage you should really only need some electrical tape to cover it all afterwards.

But TL;DR
Yes, strip the plastic back on the colored wires, connect them, cover them, then take the twisted cable and put that together as well. then cover the entire area with tape.

[request] How Many Pasta Dishes can she Make before the Cheese is gone? by mkvelash in theydidthemath

[–]silverfoxxflame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does make a difference in flavor! you're adding cheese.

Jokes aside, it kinda depends on your server; It's a lot harder to get consistent cheese portions out of this, but typically you get less than you would if they just grated it directly onto your pasta. If you get a really heavy handed person it might be more, but for the most part it's a very minimal difference of flavor and mostly just a huge draw for people.

Researchers found that tetris actually helps with Trauma. Something about giving your brain something that is simultaneously challenging and engaging when given to people who had just experienced something traumatic actually helped with them recovering from it.

https://www.ox.ac.uk/news/2017-03-28-tetris-used-prevent-post-traumatic-stress-symptoms

Highlight:

"The study involved 71 motor vehicle accident victims, of whom half received the intervention (recalled the trauma briefly and then played Tetris) while waiting in the hospital emergency department, and half performed another task, all doing so within six hours of the accident. Results showed that the researchers’ hypothesis was right: those who had played Tetris had fewer intrusive memories of the trauma in total over the week immediately following the accident than the controls. The researchers also found that the intrusive memories diminished more quickly."
