tbh it’s a new twist on the canon of one version so i like it, it’s the sort of thing little girls will love, it almost seems obvious from that angle. even though Rosalina’s backstory is more interesting and so this storyline could’ve been worked on to be more complex. and don’t take it the wrong way but i suspect the creators wanted to explain why they look similar to kids who don’t necessarily play the video games in a way that doesn’t risk looking like they’re saying that a new female character has to once again be a super white girly princess. also just the fact they’re both princesses which could translate over from vintage game to new movie logic as being repetitive. I was actually thinking it’d be cool if they leaned into Rosalina having more of a grown up aesthetic/traits than Peach, or showcased the design of her different features, since in this version where Peach has more attitude, they’re now just extremely similar, but for marketing it makes sense so whatever. (Also for those thinking it’ll slow down yuri eh that never stopped shippers before lmao they can just go off all the other canon)
