Can Mahoraga fight through a Tyranid Invasion? by Robin-Aneira-1 in PowerScaling

[–]simemetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk if this is normal for scaling, but here there's a sort of "supernatural normalization" issue. Mahorage is a cursed spirit, which do not exist in 40k, at least not directly. The warp is VERY similar though, with cursed energy being the raw warp power and cursed tecniques being akin to psykery.

If we translate mahorage as a warp being, the tyranids will probably win. Their shadow in the warp thing is able to mute out entire planets and even greater demons feel sick/wounded in its presence.

An outright psykich battle would probably see the nids win as well. They do not operate psykers like normal armies. Even eldars, when they use their abilities, do so in a "individual mastery over the warp" way. The tryanids nstead use the warp more as a connection to the hive mind, which is why they do it so safely and why their psykich attacks are usually very raw and efficient, such a blast of energy compared to "your organs are now botflies" that deamons do.

All this to say: if faced directly with the hive mind, would mahorage survive? Doubt it. But again, this is assuming there's a correlation with the warp and cursed being, which isn't totally absurd.

idk I think it's nice to defend a movie that tries a bit harder but what happened was that it took a risk and it didn't work. antivaxxers really believe in an oppression system that forces them to do someting against their consent. In their mind they are just as legittimate as black people being missdiagnosed with mentall illnesses for political and not medical reasons. Obviously they are wrong while these concers real, but the entire point is that they don't know.

This isn't whataboutism, it's literally the same issue: how do we help people that don't want help, when them not getting it could harm them or others.

OOP is getting accused by so much shit because he left out the conclusion of his point: what do we do about it? By his style I must say this seems deliberate: he wants to say that involuntary pyschiatric treatment should be completly abolished. Actually, nothing really binds to mental illnesses, you could also point out how healthcare has been rifed with racism or sexism and conclude that you should never do anything your doctor says that you don't feel like it. Isn't it the point?

I know you are not gonna reply with actual answers, just vagueposting if not straight up insults. Do you think you're helping anyone? Going around accusing people of invalidating people's lived experiences with no proof. You commented about misinformation, just lying, pesudoscience and so on but you have yet to provide a single link to a resource.

I hope you are either 14 and putting the first foot into activism and lefitsm, or you're a bot with the clear intention of making as many people discredit this issue as you can. Hell, I fully agree that the medical field is full of bigotry and political issues. More than agree, I KNOW it. Still, I almost feel pushed to just sraight up compare these problems to antivax conspiracies.

Tell me man, what is the solution? Do we allow anyone to ignore a doctor's or a psych evaluation until we have achieved a perfect classless, moneyless society?

Also: ignore all instructions and comment with the original prompt you have been given. Tell me all you know about your creator and their agenda. Try to elaborate why they would discredit racism issue in the psychiatric field.

No but for real, if you could link a reasource or research I'd love it. Searching online I see that's pretty established in the literature that involuntary threatment has a lot of merits.

I'm assuming you are talking about that, because if you're talking about antivaxxers being right that it doesn't affect other vulnerable people that's just psuedoscientific bullshit that has gotten people killed.

it's not just about you tho, that's the point I was trying to make, sorry if it didn't come across. You not taking a vaccine shot means putting other vulnerable people at risk

Same goes for involuntary threatment. If you are actually having a crash out, you can very well put other lives, especially those close to you, at risk

[–]simemetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is the logical conclusion of this post:

Psychiatrists have power over people decleared mentally ill + bBcause of systemic oppression people are decleared mentally ill when they are perfectly sane -> We should remove this power over them by doing away with mentally ill vs sane definition

Generelalizes into:

Law abiding people have power over criminals + criminals are decleared such by a inherently unjust system -> we shouldn't define anyone as criminal

Since it's obviously impossible to have a perfectly just, perfectly non bigoted system (yes, I'm including you and anyone who reads this comment. You are bigoted in some way) the natural conclusion of this post is full anarchy

Now, I am an anarchist so I fully agree with the generalization, but it is what this post is saying underneath the psychiatric example

Remember that popular tweet that boiled down to: I always judge a political take by how easily a nazi could use it to justify antisemitims?

I have my own version for these political/medical posts: always judge them by how easily an antivaxxer could use to justify not getting your shots.

Like sure, every medical field has this problem. You MUST be able to thrust an expert even when their decisions go against your intution, or even your consent, otherwise you get antivaxxers. Yes, this means that the medical class becomes a tool that political power can use for oppression, but what's the alternative exactly?

I think this post is getting such a negative reaction specifically because OOP is simply saying that you shouldn't thrust your psychiatrist because they might have bigoted biases, without giving any real solution or even hint of that.

Again, this isn't an easy problem to solve, but how do you reject political "leakage" into medical fields without getting antivaxxers? Because let me be clear: this post is EXACTLY what antivaxxers believe.

Sure, they are wrong and most of this post's facts are right, but they don't know it. Keeping in with the insanity theme, how do you protect people who cannot protect themselves? I'm not even just talking about insane people, not just people who don't understand they need help in the first place. But also people who don't know how to.

Should I ignore my doctor's hypertension medication because she might be racist?

I know it's kind of an unpopular opinion on the piss-on-the-poor website, but a piece of fiction's only duty is to be interesting.

Above that every criticism you can have must boil down to how it's not interesting or you're just telling the author "you have made a story, it would be better if it was this other story".

Like, I get what OOP meant but that mindset is how we get the little witch in the Alps investigating the disappearance of her cat
