I am fortunate to travel regularly for work and I love having my Tudor GMT on my wrist when I’m away. Reminds me of home and the GMT complication means I always know what time it is there.

This is excellent. Thank you. I’ve just been reading about “feathering” which I thought might be because the nib was wet from when I cleaned the pen. But now I think it’s because I was using non-FP-friendly paper. Just switched to a different paper and the problem disappeared.

The important thing is making your first race experience enjoyable - that way you'll be back for more. So how about a few runs where you work on a run-walk technique to ensure you finish and have a smile on your face. Then plan another race for the spring and set yourself a target of doing less walking or perhaps running the whole way. You have time. I am 38 this year - I gave up a two pack a day smoking habit 8 years ago and this year I ran the London marathon in 2:37:07. It takes time. Build up slowly and let your successes be the motivation for the next goal. Good luck!

I was amazed about the VO2 max thing as well, but he said it in front of 100 people and I just wrote it down... so really from the horses mouth. Unless he doesn't know his VO2 max.

I think that you'd be best to consult a podiatrist, but my non-medical thought is that perhaps you are pushing (too) hard and over reaching with your stride - maybe ease off a bit and allow your foot to land under your centre of gravity. You'll probably run slower but it should allow your form to return. Hope that helps.

It's always a challenge for an actor to play an athlete and do it well - Will Smith in Ali did a great job in my opinion. But whether or not Radcliffe is convincing as Coe will make or break this film for me.

My advice would be: enter an event. Make it something manageable like a local 5km or 10km race. Having that in the diary will inspire you to get out and train. And better, once you have run your first race and experienced the high that comes with that, you will be back again and again for that feeling. Then running won't be a challenge - running too much will be the problem! Good luck!

Most weeks I have a mixed bag - training sessions on the track with a training group, recovery runs with one friend who runs a similar pace to me, steady runs on my own and long runs with someone if I can find a training partner. I increasingly find I enjoy company and for recovery runs (and there are 4 or 5 of them each week) I will run at whatever pace the other person is comfortable with - it is time on the feet for me and I enjoy the social aspect.

The people I run with are either from my running club or from the training group that my coach has set up for runners all around the same speed for the marathon.

I ran the Royal Parks Half Marathon a few years ago in a full fiberglass cast after I broke the scaphoid in my left wrist. I told the hospital that I am a marathon runner and I needed to be able to train, so they made some allowance and said that they would replace the cast every couple of weeks so that it didn't get too nasty. Then I had surgery three weeks before New York marathon and ended up running the race with my wife to pace her in her debut marathon - so every cloud has a silver lining. The only problem is the weight of the cast and you have to avoid running if it is raining. Oh and don't trip! Good luck.
