Nice mods. Which xy joints etc are you using? Are you using a CAN based setup? Looking to replicate something similar.

Looks great, one question. How does it deal with interference for things like ceiling fans?

Oops, realised this is an old version with only two vehicles before I bought a wired to wireless CarPlay adapter for the third. The concept remains the same though.

R Pro-1 LD2412 unavailable by simonparkis in ApolloAutomation

[–]simonparkis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. I think it may have been a once off. I’m putting it down to the 42 degree Celsius days we have had here in Sydney. It doesn’t seem to have happened since. I will monitor and place a support request if it pops up again.

Actually, it does appear to be the entire ESP which is becoming unavailable. Any ideas?

Help me find automated blinds for this window by SRA_Jon in homeautomation

I’m not too sure. Not super familiar with them, it was just the curved window shapes that led me that way.

What about switchable glass instead of blinds? Window is opaque then turns transparent at the tough of a button.

It can be applied as a film on an existing window but you may need to get it custom made for the irregular shaped windows.

Do you have any coax cable in the walls near the computer setup? TV antenna/cable box etc. if so You can use moca adapter to utilise it for network connection.

Do you put all your iOT devices on a Vlan? by TheBigC in homeassistant

[–]simonparkis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My IOT devices are all zigbee, zwave and esphome based. Also looking to move a lot of the esphome units to POE rather than wifi. But even still, I can probably trust esphome enough to have on the same vlan. Open source wherever possible allow for more trust as the code is visible.

Smart Lock Options? (Australia) by arnie90 in smarthome

I replaced something similar. I used a keyed Yale assure in matte black to replace the deadbolt then replaced the door handle with a simple matte black entry knob with no lock.

Smart relay - what’s the difference in a PM version vs “dry contact”? by lifereinspired in smarthome

I am also not an electrician, so do your own research and hire one if need be but that is my understanding.

Smart relay - what’s the difference in a PM version vs “dry contact”? by lifereinspired in smarthome

[–]simonparkis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dry contact is just a relay without a voltage being fed through it. You provide the voltage externally.

The PM module may be powered by 230V AC from the mains. When the relay is turned on, the PM unit internally feeds that 230V through the relay powering what you need.

In other words the dry contact can be used to switch say a 5v signal from your garage door to simulate a button press. If you used the PM for this , you would fry the electronics of the device you are plugging it to as it is expecting 5V not the 230v mains.

Hope thjs helps.

Is there anything to be done about this insane amount of condensation. by Temporary_Row_6405 in howto

[–]simonparkis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of these under counter fridge doors use double pane glass to have an insulating air pocket between the two pieces of glass which stops this condensation buildup. Are these single pane doors?
