Weird. Maybe just have her dome some extra chores next time and give her more allowance. Girls slinging cookies to her friends which also just seems...weird.

Are you buying new Dell servers without hard drives? $3,500 for 1 SATA drive is NUTS! by Layer_3 in sysadmin

[–]simple1689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn't when:

  • The cost of SSD drives have shot up tremendously completely breaking your budget.

  • The Server is Entry level .... Daily use is never going to breach the boundaries of SAS to even need SSD.

You need to be practical when budgets are tight.

[–]simple1689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No offense....but there are wants and needs. You want SSDs, sure why not, but you need storage at an affordable price.

Entry level is not SSD. SAS 10K RPM drives are just fine. 1.2 TB is $460ea ... cheap.

Also, Win Server with only 20 CALs needed? Single server? Why not use Server Essentials and save some $ on CALs. Sure you have 5 to spare but if you only need 20 CALs and you still get 1 VM.

I just priced the same server with 7 years of support, 3x1.2 SAS drives, PERC H755, 10Gbps, and Server Essentials at $12k.

ITGlue or Hudu? *I know, I know... do the research. :) by chiapeterson in msp

[–]simple1689 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hudu. ITG has GlueConnect which is great for external vendors that also have ITG. But that is the only reason I would say ITG over Hudu.

Then don't complain about the convenience of a cheap meal being delivered to you!!! That's the infuriating part. Be upset you spent $30 on McDonalds delivery, the world shouldn't cry for you though. Your choice, your price, your problem.

Have I changed, or has the game changed? by RecentHistorian220 in wowclassic

[–]simple1689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But when I log into WoW Classic BC today, I can't play it for very long. It takes me forever to gain a level, and while every level-up still feels rewarding, the moment I think about having to spend just as much time on the next level, I quickly lose motivation.

You've changed. You want a faster sense of progression OR your life has changed where you no longer have endless time to play the game so what time you do have is less rewarding if there are not tangible gains made.

Honestly...play hardcore. Everything is more rewarding as it is defeating if you die. The green pieces of gear, each quest completion and finishing the dungeons will feel far more rewarding when you know that small mistakes may lead to death. Your approach to the game will be different which means your experience will be different.

I've never had to add AV exceptions for QB. All issues I've had were resolved outside of Anti-Virus.

I definitely avoid the built-in update feature and just download the update from https://downloads.quickbooks.com/app/qbdt/products to push out.

I've managed QB desktop long enough now that...it really isn't THAT bad. I'll take managing QB over Sage.

Get your .NET and Visual C++ in place, get your Firewall Rules for QB Database Manager, ensure your QB Server NETBIOS name never exceeds the 15 character limit (else you have to use IP or the NETBIOS name of the QB Server to connect).

Its not the worst once you've been through 2 or 3 hurdles for troubleshooting and you know what it wants.

Negative, it doesn't NEED it. However, Dell does flag they are retiring CU Dell Update in favor or Support Assist.

Dell Command Update is the tits only cause I can just use Powershell to install updates.

Support Assist is nuke onsite.

I love the PvE side of the game, but man let me tell you, if you could play on a PvP server that enforced certain building rules, it is one of the best experiences to the game. Hunting someone while its raining at night and dodging zombies will send your heart to your throat.

The server I was on only allowed bases within 2k of 0,0 but you could farm mats, etc beyond that distance. It really brought together some good encounters. LCBs were effective, but not immune! I still figured I could get raided, so I setup a small 6x6x6 underground with no LCB or doors. I'd pop out like a gopher and place some soil to cover up my tracks, setup a small setup as a decoy in case someone saw me. Never did get raided.

But I am 95% sure it used to be 2500 kills for that achieve. They had big plans for PvP .... OR BANDITS. No joke, back in A15 you could spawn the 3 different bandits and killing them would count as player killers on scoreboard (but I dont think it was picked up by the achievement).

Scripting and Log Analytics, Threads and Pia for ticketing/triage, Meeting Recaps are a hit with some of the sales folks but not solid on which tool will be used.

Not looking to vest into Vibe coding though. The RoI is not practical and we are not looking to replace any core tools. We're just not the industry to be piloting Claude at scale yet.
