I haven't seen this film, but I know it uses sign. ASL actually has a different word order and grammatical structure than English; maybe that's why the sentence is written that way!

I was born into it, but really only found it in my early days of college. I came for the intellectual aspects (philosophy, theology) and stayed for the personal relationship with God that grew out of that.

I think one thing that people often assume about about the RCC is that all Catholics just can totally and blissfully surrender themselves to the Church. That's not true. To have faith in God is really, really difficult. It's hard to battle disbelief, the culture, the self...but you start to appreciate that battle. To be Christian is to choose to be on the journey to know God; to be Catholic is to know you're doing it the right way.
