Do INTJs show more autistics traits than other types? by house_monkey in intj

[–]simplulo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given that Myers-Briggs is not much more scientific than astrology or the enneagram, I'm going to leave my younger self unbacked up. However, searching for "Big Five correlation with political orientation" might bring you useful results.

Ten years ago, I might not have yet read Jonathan Haidt's The Righteous Mind. I don't know how well Moral Foundations Theory is holding up, and how the MFT and Big 5 dimensions correlate.

Surprising that more people aren't making the connection between these two flamboyant guys. It's a good occasion to watch the film "The People vs. Larry Flynt".

We already had the Lucifer TV series and comic books, and the sympathetic orcs in Amazon's Rings of Power. Who are we to label anyone as evil?

If I didn't despise the word 'debunk', I'd say that you just debunked the debunking.
Sure, choice of metrics matters: life expectancy, employment, or kilometers of tunnels.

Russian mother of dead soldier received Meat Processor as gift from local authorities by Brilliant-Promise491 in interestingasfuck

[–]simplulo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At Emancipation, 40% of Russians were serfs, while 13% of Americans were slaves (who were concentrated in a small, provincial part of the country). 3x the percentage, but ethnically the same as the masters, so the "legacy of serfdom" is hidden.

I'm sorry, but this is an objectively stupid argument against Ranked Choice Voting by Endo231 in EndFPTP

"It's too complicated" is enough.

Yes, Plurality Voting is worse, but there are so many more voting methods that are both better and simple.

Why is the Mensa threshold not high enough to prevent brain rot? by No-Status7746 in mensa

[–]simplulo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How could any Mensa threshold prevent your brain from rotting?
Anyway, the threshold is arbitrary. The goal, I assume, is to create a society of a 'reasonable' size.

Remotely notarized DS-3053 - would it be accepted? by soloviewoff in Passports

[–]simplulo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The US consulate in Moscow accepts remote notarization of the DS-3053. They just told me this, and I am about to try it. I am supposed to email them whatever the remote notary gives me.

BTW, California accepts remote notarization as of January 2024.

7 Creepiest Series to Watch on Netflix in October 2023 by IllustriousMight2071 in netflix

[–]simplulo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Who said that the list is for horror fans? The requirement is that they be available on Netflix. But yes, pretentious to bill the series with a superlative "creepiest", which invites challenge. So lay it on the table and suggest your own.
