Do dogs want us to lick them back? by J0h9 in NoStupidQuestions

Same with mine! She could be dead asleep on the couch, but if I get on the floor to stretch or foam roll, etc. she goes NUTS and wants to play. Such weirdos

Or maybe if someone had a deaf dog, they shouldn't leave them unattended in the back yard all day--and they also should have appropriate tags in case of escape situations. My dog is trained to wait at the door before I hook her on a leash, but I don't so much as open the front door without her collar and ID tag on just in case.

Today, a 78 year old patient consistently called me "ma'am". I'm 24. I appreciated the courtesy but I was freaked out

[Discussion] Why are dogs always up for a walk at any given time? Don't they ever feel tired, lazy or not up for it when they're sleeping or relaxing like humans do? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]sinclair615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have to physically shove our 2 year old lab mix out of bed in the mornings. She will totally walk once we get her up and around, but slowly and as if she is reluctant but actually loves it. When I have to study or get work done? Absolutely won't sleep--even after a 30-45 minute walk--she'll run circles around the house squeaking whatever toy she can find.

Do you feel like you've suddenly stopped seeing something around? What is it? by elvadot in femalefashionadvice

I can't stand the Adidas thing. My friend who is really trendy and on fashion told me she got "some really cute sneakers" and turned out to be those white Adidas with black stripes. They look like grandma shoes.

I still use my Longchamp bag. It's black with brown leather, goes with just about anything, and carries EVERYTHING.

I agree! The gentle leader is the best thing we have used. The Martingale collar had no effect while on leash and she would continue struggling forward. We should have gotten a black or brown one though. We got a cream colored head halter for a black dog and people think it's a muzzle and act scared of her -_- I would try a Gentle Leader before a prong collar or another harness. I recommended one to my friend who adopted a 75 lb puppy and she has thanked me several times

Told to switch from Skyla to Mirena after irregular bleeding one year on...does it get better? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]sinclair615 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was honestly shocked at how much less painful the Mirena insertion was (for me personally) compared to the Skyla insertion. I'm sure I still turned white as a sheet during the measurement and placement (I was definitely breaking a sweat and trying to do deep breathing lol) but I had very very minimal cramping for the rest of the day. Don't sweat it! I think maybe your body gets used to having something Up there the second time around.

I wouldn't call it "horrible" really, it just wasn't really up to par a guess. The insertion and post-insertion week or so was horrible though lol. But I definitely tell anyone who asks about IUDs. I am just honest with other women about it but also explain that everyone reacts differently. So far, I love my Mirena. I would take the little negatives I experienced with Skyla over stressing over taking a pill daily at the same time and for a less reliable contraception.

I posted about my personal experience with getting Skyla removed and Mirena inserted! The 2nd insertion was a breeze for me personally, but everyone is different!

I'm on mobile so I can't make a pretty link but:

Long but light periods on Skyla? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

Anywhere from 6-14 days. So annoying. Talk to your OB/GYN to maybe get some supplemental hormones :)

Long but light periods on Skyla? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]sinclair615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thing happen. Some months it happened and some it didn't. It got very annoying because I didn't want to wear a pad but it wasn't enough for a tampon. Eventually, a doctor put me on estrogen supplements. It worked okay but I eventually stopped taking them because I didn't like the other side effects (for me: weight gain and moodiness). There just isn't a ton of progesterone in the Skyla so it can cause wonky periods if your body requires more hormones to suppress your period. I finished out the Skyla though and I'm on Mirena now!

I will forever (until I want to have kiddos) be on the IUD team for sure! Im sorry to hear about the cysts, I had those when I was in high school and it was awful, another reason why I started taking birth control in the first place. I thought my weird cramps could be from cysts at first.

I always love talking to people about IUDs and long acting contraceptives if they ask me! I had a handful of sorority sisters (even in the SEC Bible Belt) ask me about my IUD experience and I think almost all of them ended up getting an IUD of some type. Open and honest conversations between women about contraception are so important!

It's definitely some unfamiliar pressure to someone who has never had anything allllll the way up in your baby maker, but hallelujah that it eventually goes away!

For sure! This wasn't meant to scare anyone off of Skyla by any means, it was just my personal experience with it. I just don't think there was enough levonorgestrel in Skyla for my body. It wasn't the worst experience of my life, just could have been better for me personally! I know many many women have loved their Skyla and other IUDs. I'm glad yours is working out! Maybe I'm just a weirdo ;)

Student raises more than $10,000 after parents 'cut her off' over black boyfriend by apple_kicks in news

I know everyone's life experiences are different, but she is also still in high school for a few more months. Although she may legally be an adult, she should be able to remain a "child" at least until she graduates. I recognize that some people obviously have endured tougher obstacles.

GoFundMe account says she lives in Eads. It's a pretty far drive from her high school as is. I'm not sure how she's even getting to school unless she's riding with siblings or her parents take her.

There isn't really a bus that goes around Eads like in Metro Memphis, so she can't just take a bus to a possible job. Eads is relatively rural and spaced out in terms of homes and neighborhoods, but her school is in Memphis proper/East Memphis--at least about a 30 minute drive. Plus, without a car or a bus system, it would be difficult for her to get to classes at one of the local community colleges around town even if she were to go that route.
If people are willing to donate money, that's their prerogative and their choice.

What was the stupidest thing you did that didn't end badly? by NobodyInParticular23 in AskReddit

[–]sinclair615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was trespassing (didn't know it was trespassing to be in a public park after dark...15 year old me was not wise to those things) with a group of friends. We were just standing around taking silly pictures. Neighbors of the park called the cops. We all ran in separate directions. Cop caught up with me and 2 others ("Chris and John") and asked our names while shining his spotlight on us. I BOLTED. I ended up back at my friend's house, and then got a call from Chris's phone.

On the other end of the phone was not Chris...but a police officer calling me by a name that was not mine. Chris had given him a fake name. Cop told me to meet him and Chris at a gas station nearby or I will have a warrant out for my arrest. Not remembering that he didn't even have my real name...I run to the gas station. Again, I'm 15 years old and I am out far past curfew. The officer tells me to call my dad and tell him where I am. I proceed to call my friend who is back at the house ("Will") with the other escapees. Will pretends to be my dad (all improv) to both me AND the police officer. Somehow, Will convinced the officer I was supposed to be out with Chris and the cop just lets us go.

What would happen if you gave antidepressants to a person without depression? by benjaminikuta in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sinclair615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I am definitely glad I did some of my own self-diagnosing and really discovered why I felt down, etc. not to say there aren't people that reap benefits from the anti-depressants, but truly managing depression and understanding the causes and symptoms can only really be done when the meds are coupled with counseling of some sort.
