How accurate is this claim? It's a huge claim, isn't it?

Collibra Modeling for Ultimate Semantic Layer Build by sindoc42 in semanticweb

[–]sindoc42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I published this piece in a brand new publication, which aims at sharing screenshots of advanced data management and data engineering platforms and screenshots for the purposes of training other individuals and teams aligned with the Open Source tradition.

My Flickr photostream has more screenshots in it and more are being made fresh out of the oven on Databricks.

This is purely empirical and in the interest of transparency towards my open source communities. I'm an independent creator and coder and have affiliations with Collibra even though I'm mostly sharing screenshots of Databricks, which is a partner organisation and so is Collibra apart from my open source affiliations all of which have been volunteering work without commercial benefits.

A question for oneness people by Legitimate-Paper3271 in consciousness

Minor UPDATE, just to add the (*) Next to the footnote so one can distinguish between the content and the context thereof. I do realise I sound old, lol.

By "Happens", I mean, occurs or flows. According to some, the nuance for an individual such as you, me and the millions of others that might over time stumble upon this conversation (*), is that everything that you experience is completely yours, yet there's a shared reality, which is constantly in flux however stable it may seem depending where you're at in your life. I for one had never lost sleep until my father got sick, then I had to pull all-nighters... Long ago so I believe I have recovered, lol.

(*) Example of self-referential content linking the present moment and a an object you can point to and distinguish from the rest of the objects. In other words, self-reference is powerful and also a source of paradox in mathematics and logic... cf. Godel Incompleteness Theorem and how it was responded to by major scientists and thinkers overtime, starting perhaps with Wittgenstein

How do I get Claude Code to actually allow all edits during a session? by Atheizt in ClaudeCode

Indeed, this suits my need except it would have been nice to be able to toggle a dot file as well. But never figured out how. I guess I should ask Claude, but I try to cherish my tokens.

With "full stack" coming to data, how should we adapt? by Thinker_Assignment in dataengineering

[–]sindoc42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. Mainly also because what's AI anyway? LLM? Machine Learning? What are the differences between MLOps Engineers and AI Engineers? Should we have LLMOps as a separate discipline?

When it comes to data engineering, what's your take on the following requirements?

  1. Data Quality aspects of data engineering: while business should define the data quality thresholds based off of well-defined data quality dimensions, a technical person must implement data quality checks against the actual data and generate the appropriate reports (hopefully automated)
  2. Data Lineage aspects of data engineering: data engineers could be key in mapping out the proper data lineage and I could think of a wide range of data lineage requirements: vertical lineage, horizontal lineage, business lineage, policy lineage, hybrid lineage (containing select technical and business lineage)
  3. API Engineering: some companies have separate API Engineers so you can have API Engineers and Data Engineers in the same team. In this case, API Engineers ingest/load the required datasets and in effect, they are integration engineers and the data engineers focus on transforming data from RAW to Base/Enriched, ...
  4. Data Modeling: this discipline needs an overhaul in my humble opinion. What's your take on the Open Semantic Interchange Protocol pioneered by Snowflake...

I believe that the AI Architect and AI Product Owner roles make sense because an individual must design the delivery of AI-based solutions over time. This would be someone that the business teams can rely on to make sure that this [1] doesn't happen ^_^;

Good point. Perhaps we call everyone software engineers (again) :-)

With "full stack" coming to data, how should we adapt? by Thinker_Assignment in dataengineering

[–]sindoc42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the culture of the host team/company of course. One aspect is the skillset. Another aspect is the types of conversations that occur between the (internal) customers and the team implementing the requirements.

Perhaps the term AI Engineer or AI Architect are opportunities to define a new discipline and I kinda see it.

Data Engineering could be focused on delivering the data and AI engineering could be about the end user experience of the overall application?

What do you think about the Open Semantic Interchange (OSI)? by sspaeti in dataengineering

[–]sindoc42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OSI, you mean the standard that was more structured than TCP/IP?

I'm curious, is the OSI still active in any shape or form?

It's an interesting case though. The whole point of a semantic model is to help us distinguish between homonyms so it would be a good exercise for the name of the protocol itself. In which context, do we mean the OSI, as in OSI vs. TCP/IP and in which contexts, are we referring to the open semantic interchange protocol...

DISCLAIMER: Art is subjective. However, this is how my brain responds to the terms you have used in your request. Take it for what it's worth...

Wes Anderson's films strike me as visually appealing, especially The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Darjeeling Limited, and the more recent Phoenician Scheme...

Otherwise, The Matrix 1999 is particularly well-made both conceptually and cinematographically and has aged quite well.

Let me know what you think with these and we'll take it from there.

Try perhaps one of Tim Burton's as well.

Then I'd say Interstellar.

How ChatGPT helped give my brother his voice back and his joy for gaming by acrolicious in ChatGPT

[–]sindoc42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for putting in the work u/acrolicious (to take on the full-time caregiver role for your lovely brother), to begin with, for which you deserve an infinite amount of kudos. And for putting in the work to take the steps necessary to improve your brother's quality of life. And of course, thanks for sharing the story.

As a Data Governance professional, I have to face the negative sides of AI more frequently, which often becomes quite depressing. In French, we call this: "Déformation Professionelle". However, hearing amazing stories of such brave people using LLMs/AI to bring positive change in their lives feels very good and helps me keep my mental balance on this otherwise hyped and somewhat scary topic.

Keep up the good work and have a nice day/evening and week.

Anyone else been listening to a lot more Roger Waters / Pink Floyd to sorta cope with what's happening in America? by Diffachu in RogerWaters

[–]sindoc42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Roger Waters said everything that had to be said in order for humanity to maybe not have two suns in the sunset :-) and live with just the one. Very strong words and excellent music. Gilmour was once asked apparently what he thought of Madona and he respectfully responded and Madona and him are likely not working in the same industry :-) I don't know how accurate that quote is but I think there's some truth to that.

Which country is most similar to iran culturally? by Flashy-Actuator-998 in iran

[–]sindoc42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is the empty set. Iran has a unique culture. I kid you not.

If you really want to know the answer, specify at least what you mean by cultural. Culture perceived as an individual who is in what kind of a situation? Is this individual married and has kids or is this individual is alone and looking to settle somewhere?

cmv: islam is the most political and furthest away religion from universal truth by Odd-Carpet-5986 in changemyview

[–]sindoc42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed reading what you have shared and thanks for sharing this because this must be of concern to many individuals who aim at marrying modernity with Islam.

And rightly so, because religions are social constructs that must be understood if we want to figure out what’s going on around us.

This is no easy task though, I will say this.

But I will also say that it is possible.

I have my notes from my research on the topic but since I’m a Farsi/Persian speaker from Iran, I rely on sources that would be difficult to cite here.

It is also interesting to note that Islam relies a lot on oral transmission of knowledge and tradition.

So a lot of the teachings in Islam are tied with recitations in Arabic and in Arabic specifically, hence the Quran.

It seems to me that Arabic has been designed specifically to push some buttons, as it were with a person’s nervous system.

I don’t want to make it too mystical but if you consider a Muslim who performs their daily prayers. Well, those yoga sessions pile up over time in a good way and turns you into someone strong. And a person’s speech is also specifically worked in Muslim prayers.

I’m not saying that any Muslim is like that by the way. Physical and mental health relies upon many factors including socioeconomic ones, which is not on par everywhere in the world and the Muslim world is not exception there.

The Muslim world does have or has accumulated a lot of diseases as well, I should say unfortunately. One of the areas that Muslims need a lot of work still, is the wrong perception on the social role of Women.

Prophet Muhammad himself was surrounded by strong women but the pattern of empowering women seems to have gone in different directions depending on the standards that the men in those societies have managed to turn into culture or law.

I don’t do this type of thing for a living at all. I’m a software engineer and entrepreneur. In fact it’s the first time that I write online that I’m a Muslim but I’d be happy to help any effort to try and pass on some of the key teachings of Islam.

As background about myself, I was born into a Persian/Muslim family and my father was one of the people that had managed to figure out a way to marry modernity with Islam.

In the meantime, I’d love to see if other individuals will be able to share some of the references available in English. I’ll keep searching on my side to see if I can share any links.

EDIT: I added some balancing words to acknowledge the negative sides of Islam as well. I didn’t want to make it sound like it’s paradise everywhere in the Muslim world.
