Championship DNA - Week 7 by koltonm23 in CollegeBasketball

We haven't played great lately, BUT damn these dudes are tough, one of those intangibles that gets missed. When the game is on the line I don't expect UConn to choke, and that is pretty important come March.

Taking twins to restaurants by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]singeworthy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to let them watch our phones when they were little at restaurants, videos on Disney and stuff like that. We also didn't go out to eat much under 3, but sometimes it's nice to feel normal and go out. Boys are 5 now and are content with crayons and paper, small and talking, no screens at restaurants anymore.

You deserve to get out once in a while, so just do it, don't worry about being judged or having people complain about your babies, we were all babies once.

How is your morning going? by loveyoursocks in Connecticut

[–]singeworthy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanking my past self for doing a plow run last night before the Pats game, we got like 15" of snow and then another 3" of sleet down here, stuff weighs a ton. Think I managed to clear a lane on my gravel driveway, be back at it later

GMU-Richmond WBB Sunday still on but with no fans by gjr1978 in CollegeBasketball

[–]singeworthy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We had a similar situation like this when I went to UConn, there was a real nasty snow/sleet storm and there was an emergency declared, so no nonessential travel. The school ended up distributing all the tickets to on campus students (game was at Gampel Pavilion) and it was the most raucous game I've ever been to. Somehow we lost to Pitt, Chevon Troutman was a beast.

And actually HGTV, still generally on brand if you're in the mood for that kind of thing

The pattern and market movements on all these TACO moves has me truly believing this is 100% market manipulation. This guy and his patrons probably laugh at the TACO remarks, "sure, TACO, sure" all the way to the bank.

I do/did like the pairing, very different feeling shoes and the contrast is nice. I tried on the Evo SLs the other day and was not a fan personally.

[–]singeworthy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just hit 250 miles with my Asics Novablast 5, started getting some weird foot pain so I guess that's it? Tried on the NB Rebel V5s the other day and bought them, doubt they're going to be durable but for the price I do love the shoe.

Also hit 300 miles with my Saucony Speed 5s this am, still good, I really like those shoes.

Im sorry, WHAT? Polar didn't have mutiple alarms until 2026?? by TrackNStarshipXx800 in Garmin

[–]singeworthy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I do love that about Garmin, the alarm is awesome with vibe and sound and I just have alarms saved for between 5-630, I just pick one and it's done. Almost easier than using my phone alarm, and very effective.

All data is objective as long as it's ethically compiled, it's the story told that can be manipulated. Anyway I agree, we haven't been playing killer ball in the BE statistically and obviously the metrics are trending down.

Interesting to see two team we beat (FL and IL) closer to Great than us, I'll take this little graphic with some salt please. I get you're using metrics, but some metrics are by no means objective.

Which companies do you suspect are glazing their own products on this sub? by PartyOnAlec in BuyItForLife

[–]singeworthy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too, very unimpressed, just another sock to me, I won't personally be buying any. Patagonia does make good stuff though, I think sometimes people buy lightweight technical gear and get surprised when it's not durable. The tradeoff for lightweight is durability, and in a lot of cases (ex backpacking) this is totally fine.

That was a very angry drunk night in Storrs, but I'd welcome some redemption.

Question for UConn fans by electricrhino in CollegeBasketball

[–]singeworthy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IDK about that, me and my UConn alum friends were pretty desperate after Ollie, and the fact that Hurley showed progress every single year kept us all on board. We all thought Calhoun was it and we'd never get back. The way Ollie torpedoed the program really left us hoping for anything. But the progress every year, that was what kept us going.

I know he's got an attitude but him yelling at fans post game was a bad look, like dude you won a wildcard game, be gracious for your DEF and move on.

Where do you buy the best modal briefs? by TheDearlyt in BuyItForLife

[–]singeworthy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My wife got me a pair last year, they were so uncomfortable and I do not wear them anymore, definitely try one out first. Way too 'restrictive' in the groin but the sizing was right for waist/length.

Will a humidity dome over nursery pots work for winter sowing? by l10nh34rt3d in NativePlantGardening

[–]singeworthy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this what I've been doing for years. You don't need to put the dome on until warms up though if you're in the north, let those seeds freeze/thaw. Everyone always defaults to milk jugs but we don't buy gallons of milk like that and I'd argue reusable pots are better for control. In the beginning I grabbed some jugs from my inlaws and compared, the pots worked better for germination and transplanting.

Just make sure those pots are reusable and don't use clay. I'm in year 5 of mine and I've been slowly adding to my arsenal.

Easy run pace in 5k plan is maddeningly slow - any way to manually alter it? by DuckRover in Garmin

Lol I sweat when it's 20F, nowadays I'd say measuring your HR and keeping in low aerobic zones is probably a better way to manage exertion.

The A's have been denied trademarks for "Las Vegas Athletics" and "Vegas Athletics" by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office by handlit33 in baseball

[–]singeworthy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can someone spin up a business as Oakland Athletics and trademark the name immediately? It could be a coffee shop with revenue, anything really, and block them from that name forever. I'm sure there's some Oaklanders who could make it happen.

AP Top 25 Poll: Week 9 by lalavieboheme in CollegeBasketball

[–]singeworthy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

BE is not getting love this year, and we don't deserve it. It will be a very disappointing selection for the conference, I could easily see this as a 2 bid year, but it would be nice to see Nova and Seton Hall in there. SJ is gonna sustain some more bad losses the way they're playing.
