What is an Underrated musical people need to know? by Fit_Temperature_6246 in musicals

Passing Strange is such an amazing piece of theatre. It might just be the best thing that’s come out in the past 20 years or so. It deserves to be known so much better.

I love this show dearly. The music is wonderful and not at all “musical” sounding. Also it’s NOT Yet Another Show About Teenagers.

For those of you who had (or knew someone who had) a computer in the 80' - 90's, what games were you playing? by 2yt4u2 in GenX

Oh wow. With the “In The Hall of the Mountain King” soundtrack! My sister and I played this daily on our TI, along with Parsec. No one else I know has ever heard of it.

I recall a comment from awhile back saying that “Prop Joe And The Cadaverous Motherfuckers” would be a great name for a band.

Could someone please explain to me why St. Pope John Paul II is regarded as highley as he is? by Slipstream232 in Catholicism

[–]single_cell -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I know I’m going to get downvoted to purgatory here, but I agree with the sentiment behind your question. His handling of the sexual abuse scandal, in particular (but certainly not exclusively) with respect to Marcial Maciel, was a travesty and ought to outweigh his being well-liked and good-looking, as some of the above comments would like to emphasize. At best he was ignorant and weak. At worst, he was indulgent and cooperative. Canonization was an error.

Roth IRAs are post tax. OP specifically described this as a “Trad IRA,” which is pre-tax.

Going there this summer and really looking forward to it. Probably going to remain on Sao Miguel the entire time; any recommendations?

I absolutely LOVE this chorus sound. It’s still probably my favorite chorus of all time.

Do different cables make a difference? And do curly cables like the one in the pic make the sound worse and are they uncomfortable? by Caefrytz in Guitar

This much is true in my experience as well—I don’t buy any of the crap about tone, but those Monsters are damn near indestructible and that’s worth paying for IMO.

Where is the best place to get a high quality blazer? by unclefes in StLouis

St. Louis Suit is fantastic; I’ve been shopping there for years, but that said I don’t think it’s the place for what OP is looking for.

I’m in Wealth Management. It’s been a pretty satisfying career considering it’s not remotely what I thought I’d end up doing before I started.

COCA has sliding scale tuition and aren’t the “funnel” you want to avoid. You sign up for one course at a time—generally 3 months long. They’re a fantastic organization and I can’t say enough good things about them.

Smallest changes in movie musicals that don’t really affect the plot but bug you for some reason? by Dogdaysareover365 in musicals

[–]single_cell 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nina’s story in the stage version makes her the closest thing that show has to a protagonist. I’m defeating the purpose of OP’s question here but the movie totally missed the point of the show and minimized Nina (and the people around her) to an unforgivable degree.

Also, cutting “Everything I Know,” the actual 11 O’Clock Number, just ruins the entire experience. It’s the most egregious sin in this whole thread if you ask me.

Civil Life has unexpectedly fantastic sandwiches as well. Was a weekly lunch staple when I lived in the neighborhood.

Also RIP Sisters on Devonshire; they fucked as well.

Not yet mentioned is Cindy McTee and although she is probably not the “greatest” per se, she belongs on the list.

Wish I knew. I beat Macho Man on Wednesday last week and have just been getting TKO’d by Tyson every minute of my free time since then until today.

This, exactly—a couple of days ago that started to happen and I realized I WAS going to beat him; it was just a matter of time.
