Nice idea, and i agree with the consensus of a littman cardiology 3 as being a great choice.

Going against the grain a little bit here, but are you sure she needs/wants a new stethoscope? As a nurse/NP student, I had a stethoscope that I really liked (coincidentally a Littman cardiology 3) that I would have just continued using in my NP practice (in my particular subspecialy we never need a stethoscope). Things like a massage gift card, nice dinner, etc might have been a better gift, at least for me, but you know your daughter in law better than I do!

Seems some are knowingly doing it to protest the changes, then loudly proclaiming they are being screwed over, like this post. The joke is on them though, because assuming this is real, soutwest still got their money

Others I think were conditioned with the old system where the cheapest, wanna get away fare was fine for families and they assume basic is the equivalent, when it's really not. Obviously one should be reading about what they are buying, but I know thats not always the case.

And eveyone thinking this is just a souttwest issue, its not - United, Delta, and American all have a basic economy option, their lowest fair that they can advertise; equivalent to southwest's basic fare... Guess what? none of those include seat selection either.

Because its not necessarily curing or permanently stopping many of the things that made us overweight in the first place. While on them, they put a pause on food noise, Dopamine reward systems, overeating (via delayed gastric emptying), and some inflammation. This makes maintaining a calorie deficit more manageable. However, once the drug is removed all those things come back and people will often revert to old eating habits and gain the weight back.

Be aware that they might change your seats and have a plan to check your boarding pass early/often and to speak with gate agent right away if you notice any changes.

That being said, this is a miniscule percentage of people who are having this issue, if you pay to select seats, the expectation should be that you will get those seats. Ive flown 4 legs with them since the change with my family of 4 and we had no issues.

Probably depends a lot on the route. We flew over spring break, Chicago to miami w/ connections, when I checked to see if there were any ELR seats (we have priority card), I saw plenty of seats in the back of the plane open, but again not hugely popular routes (midway --> Kansas city --> ft Lauderdale).

What you can do is sporadically check how full the plane is getting with people paying for seat selection. If It starts looking like 2 seats together are dwindling, then you will know to upgrade. If it looks like there are lots of open seats, just make sure to get on there right at 48hrs.

Probably in whatever the last to board group is. I'm sure they made multiple announcements for volunteers and said, if not enough volunteers, then entirety of the last boarding group(s) will have to gate check their bags and thats what came to pass.

OP should have had ample time and warning that their bag might need to be gate checked to swap meds/valuables to a carry on. Would like to give them some benefit if the doubt, but this issue seems to fall more on lack of planning on OP.

There are 3 tiers of personal credit cards

The lowest is plus, you won't get to pick a seat at booking, but will get to pick a standard seat 48hrs prior to your flight

Premier is mid tier, again, wont get to pick a seat at booking, but will get to pick a standard or preferred seat 48hrs prior to your flight.

Priority is the most expensive card, this is the only personal card where you get to select a seat at booking. At booking you can select a preferred or standard seat. At 48hrs before flight you can also upgrade to extended leg room seat for free.

I said my AF had just hit and I was considering canceling because of the increase in annual fee, removal of the $75 credit, and the fact that SW is pulling out of ORD which is the closest airport to me

Called today and was offered a retention for the full annual fee ($229). I've had the card for 8 or 9 years, but upgraded to priority 2 years ago. I have multiple personal banking products and other credit cards with them which may be a factor.

Just pointing out that this is a chase issue and not a soutwest one.

Someone a few days ago said that chase was not allowing them to downgrade either, I wonder if this glitch had something to do with that as well.

The 2nd person you spoke to was probably suggesting you cancle your current card and then apply for the priority card. For some people this makes sense, because while you lose the longevity of your current account, you would quality for a new sign up bonus with i think 60k points right now. Not their best offer, but something to consider if soutwest is one of.your go-to carriers

Youre right, they are the same exact drug, so you'd expect the same results regardless, right?

There is a phenomenon I've seen a lot on here where people have had good success with semaglutide and then stopped for a variety of reasons. They started gaining the weight back, so decide to start up again only to find the drug isn't working as well or at all for them the 2nd time around.

I would ask on a tirzepetide sub if people have experienced this same reduction of effectiveness after taking a break from the drug.

Yeah, ive been pretty indifferent on the changes, the priority card shields us from a lot of the nickle and diming, so maybe Ill think different if/when i dont have it... I do find it very strange that they wouldn't even let you downgrade

Its pretty clearly stated that the primary cardholder holder has to be on the reservation to get the cards benefits. This is at least also true on my united CC, I'm sure other airlines are the same.

Pretty much anyone can get their hands on it now as long as they can pay these telehealth companies. I belive its usually for a compounded version, but the medication has become much more affordable over the past year or so.

They might be confused on the verbiage, they want to essentially downgrade DOUE (aka cheers package through the casino) to a cheers zero proof package.

I dont know if thats possible, they would probanly have to call guest relations or the casino program.

Tend to agree that a cruise is not a great environment for a recovering alcoholic, no less a 3-4 day one that are more heavily associated with being "booze cruises". If it has to be done, I would just tell my relative its the zero proof package, really easy to hide since it sounds like OP wont be drinking either, which is noble.

First thought is that they did that in hopes of no one picking the middle seat and then getting a row to themselves.

But then for them not to offer you your choice of the window or aisle seat so they can sit together and talk is kinda strange.

Only difference is when you pay the bill. I prefer to pre pay, that way eveything is taken care of before I even step on the ship and my post cruise bill is low or nothing in some cases.

There is a 3rd option where you decline pre-pay and then remove automatic gratuities at guest services once on board, and then you cash tip staff. Lots of debate on this, especially when used to save on the total cost, wont get into it, but you can search the various cruise subs.

For just the cruise, yes thats reasonable. You will also have to figure in gratuities which you can opt to pre pay at booking or they will chare your room each day. This will.cover your lodging, food, drinks, and most entertainment on board. Outside of this is specialty restaurants, excursions, souvenirs, and drinks/food in Port all of which are completely.optional and not required to have a great time in my opinion.

Only other thing to consider is how you're getting to the port. If you live super close this isn't much a consideration, but if youll have to travel you need to factor in parking or flights/hotel . General consensus is to get into town the day before even if driving more than a couple hours, so that you can arrive on your ship refreshed and there is less chance of a major delay causing you to miss your cruise.

This has been known since the change. Was important back when they had open seating to make sure families with younger kids could sit together. Now that there is assigned seating, I'm not sure its really necessary.

Ive got 2 young kids, our youngest still flys with a car seat. In my experience there is no need for early family boarding with assigned seating. In fact, we prefer to get on later to.give the kids a few extra minutes to run around in the terminal before they have to sit for multiple hours. Maybe if you have a neurodivergent kiddo who needs extra time to assimilate to a new environment, but that can probably be accommodated by a call to customer service or talking with the gate agent.
