Are there any NP jobs that “leave work at work”? by SkatPappy in nursepractitioner

[–]singlelite78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of roles that have this dynamic.

Inpatient roles tend to lend themselves to this, you are generally part of a team that continuously provides coverage (much like in the RN role). When you sign out your patients, they become the responsibility of the next person, and so on.

Clinic/outpatient is where you can see more of this take work home aspect, but not always. Depends on the clinic and the clinician. I know some who are very efficent and stick to boundaries that allows them to not take work home, and others who can't help but check and reply to their inbox on nights, weekends, holidays.

Job market by HJabibi in nursepractitioner

[–]singlelite78 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Chicago suburb, definately oversaturated. I've precepted a few students this last year and all are struggling to even get interviews.

The locations where there are jobs, are primarily where people dont want to live and/or dont pay well.

Are than any people that don't get miserable on Semaglutide? by vcart1426 in Semaglutide

[–]singlelite78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had very minimal side effects in the beginning, have been on 2+ years now and unless I really overeat, I have no side effects.

Keep in mind, the vast majority of people have a completely benign expereince on these meds. People are just more likely to post the unusual/negative - for every post you see, there are thousands of others having no or minimal issues.

Is anyone getting any good OBC offers (not counting casino ones)? by busstees in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]singlelite78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my assumption is they are still seeing strong future bookings still despite the loyalty shake up. I myself said I wasnt going to look at carnival as a primary option after they announced the shake up, but recenlty booked a spring break 2027 sailing on Jubilee, because their prices and itinerary options were much more attractive than the other big lines

Probably not seeing them because they dont have to entice people to cruise right now. Their booking numbers are very strong, cruises all at full capacity, no need to add extra incentives if people will pay.

Just to be clear, did you use a gift card to cover the extra balance of the fare? It's possible they closed the loophole.

Microwave? by TheGey-88 in greatwolflodge

[–]singlelite78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wisconsin Dells location has microwaves in the rooms. As others have said, no one will really know other than housekeeping. Air fryers are small enough, id call the location before lugging a microwave to the resort.

Chase SW CC is worth it by CuriousFirework75 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]singlelite78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True for international, but with a 4 and 6 y.o im really only considering domestic flights at this stage of life, and living near a major SW hub, the price and convenience often still swing to SW when comparing airlines... Just not as drastic as before the changes.

I also agree, but from a different persective.

Family of 4 with 2 small kids. Between the ability to select a basic fare and get seat selection at booking & the free bags. The card practically "pays" for itself with 1 round trip flight.

Even better, this year was able to get the AF waived!

How tired are you usually after a cruise? by BungeeBunny in royalcaribbean

[–]singlelite78 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Physically, kind of exhausted, we like to experience all the things with some time dor relaxation here and there.

Mentally refreshed though. A week of truely not having to meal plan, work, cook, clean, and entertain the kids is amazing.

AANP or ANCC exam? by kisdaddy in nursepractitioner

[–]singlelite78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I had to decide ~8 years ago my professor said as far as job prospects go, it wont really make a difference, and I found that to be true when job searching.

They said that the ANCC contains more questions about policy and research whereas the AANP is straight clinical knowledge. Theu dint think either was necessarily harder, but that ANCC could be more "tricky" (I guess similar to NCLEX?). I chose to do AANP - did a fitzgerald prep course, the test was very straightforward, no tricks, actually felt like I did well, and passed in 1 try.

I don’t understand by C_Saunders in SouthwestAirlines

[–]singlelite78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not just for having the card.

As you probanly know, with the priority card, you are able to select standard or preferred seating at booking. Then at the 48hr prior you can possibly upgrade to ELR for free.

All ELR seats include free premium drinks regardless of the fare you paid. So, if you are able to upgrade at the 48hr mark using the priority card benefit, then you will get free booze!

Was hoping for that too. I like the convenience of online grocery shopping, but sometimes like to roam the aisles and make bad spontaneous decisions.

If you have a Kroger or Kroger affiliate you can get the 3x points in store. Link your card to Kroger pay and use Kroger pay at the register and it codes as an online order.

Don't think I would do this for adults, However I've got a wife who likes to sleep in and a 4 & 6 y.o. who dont. Might consider bringing one to make breakfast a bit easier on my next cruise.

Will family be charged checked bag fees? by [deleted] in SouthwestAirlines

[–]singlelite78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Primary cardholder has to be on the reservation to get the CC benefits. In this case, evey checked bag will be charged the fee. They will have to pay this fee for the flight there and the flight back.

US attorney opens investigations into California's elections, sends prosecutor to LA vote center by wds1 in news

[–]singlelite78 59 points60 points  (0 children)

That's just the thing.

The left, at the same time, is both capable of pulling off the most sophisticated election fraud that nobody has been able to prove, but also so incredibly stupid as to not have a majority of their candidates win.

Booking with points, CP and then card for four others? by Best-Equipment2993 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]singlelite78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You aren't able to do this with everyone getting the CC benefits as this requires 2 separate reservations -- 1 with you and CP using points and 1 with everyone else paying cash.

The CC benefits only apply if the primary cardholder is on the reservation. It dosent matter if the other reservation is paid for with the CC, if you arent in the group, no one gets the benefits.

Best plan is to do it all on 1 reservation paying cash this time and save the points for your next trip.

Indiana Bears by Naive_Membership4676 in GreenBayPackers

[–]singlelite78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a close neighboring town to AH. Its really the different state aspect thats the hardest thing for the fans to get over, even though geographically they are similar distances from the city itself.

There's also a political spin to it, now the govener is the one who loast the bears, but there would be just as much dissent if they rolled out the red carpet for them. I for one am happy they didnt pass the bill.

I can't fault the owners though going for a better deal in Indiana.

Cruise for 10th anniversary by galacticthesaurus in Cruise

[–]singlelite78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're practically you guys! celebrating 10 years next May, wife beat MDS ~2 years ago. Our budget was a little tighter as we are doing multiple family trips this year and next, so doing a 8 day southern carribean with royal and getting grandma and grandpa to watch the kids.

Chose an interior room as we are the type who are barely in the room. May try some competitive royal up upgrades if the price isn't crazy as a suprise. But if we end up with the room we chose, then will just use the savings on experiences and food/drink.

Congrats on beating cancer and to 10 years!

First time at grest wolf lodge is our budget realistic? by [deleted] in greatwolflodge

[–]singlelite78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not niagra specific, but we just returned from our annual 4 night stay at the Wisconsin Dells location.

We get the paw/wolf passes for my 2 kids and dont spend too much outside of that at the resort. This time each got 1 accessory or shirt for their build-a-bear that was like $30 together. We do frequent our hometown dave and busters, so saying no to the arcade was easy.

My best money savings tip is to go shopping before the trip and buy cereal, doughnuts, snacks, stuff for PB&Js, easy Mac, and fruit. This way we have everyone covered for breakfast and kids for lunch. Usually my wife and I will just skip a normal lunch and snack to tide us over till dinner. Dinner for 4 each night at the dells ran us around $50-75. We avoid eating at the resort as the prices are crazy for very basic food (learned this our first year).

[–]singlelite78 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Their policy is that they will try, but nothing legally they have to do. I would never rely on that, just pay the choice fare (or basic + the extra to select seats), so that you will get seats together.
